I got mine. The Moderna 2 shot series. I had side effects after both doses. Bad night sweats after the 1st dose- Nausea after the 2nd. Side effects lasted a day each but the Government paid for our sick call for up to 3 days after each dose for side effects. Payment was made through the Stimulus relief Bill for essential Hospital employees. Not too excited for a Booster shot or 2nd vaccine though. After the 2nd dose my arm hurt for a week.

What I am nutty about is a whole bunch of other things I've harped on since about two months in to this whole thing. Plus a whole set of other politically related implications that we don't discuss at the dinner table here.

whole lotta stupid going on , I'm no Doctor but I played one last night .

Dad is two days removed from his second shot and he feels fine. I get my second dose in 3 weeks.

I think I'm finally come down from the shell shock that has been covid . I went out last weekend for some Chicken bacon wraps , picked up smoothies and a 1/8th from New Amsterdam . It was fun :D I may be ready to hang with a dirty drummer in the same room pretty soon .

A thoughtful nuanced consideration of things and making that decision is understandable.
There are also many people arriving at the same destination through antivax thinking, holistic/naturalist bullshit, tribal group think, etc.

The problem is theres a game theoretic problem here. If we want to achieve some kind of immunity we need much fewer people making that decision than are making the getting vaccinated decision. Maybe throwing all people who are abstaining into the nutty bin is a useful social tool to apply social pressures to get it done, maybe not. Just saying if everyone took the same stance as you are we'd never know the efficacy on the vaccine. As much as I idealistically agree we need people to make efforts to eliminate personal comorbidities like obesity and vitamin D thats just practically not going to happen. Americans do not give a fuck about taking personal responsibility and putting effort into their health.

Oh, I don't think the social/political pressure has really started yet. Biden alluded to it in his speech last week.

Paraphrasing - We will see what we allow people who are vaccinated to do, and this will put pressure on others to get vaccinated.

In non-double-speak - they will start to add additional restrictions on those who are not vaccinated.

I believe with kids we leave this up to each state so I think this would therefore be unprecedented on the federal level. (like the polio vaccine for example) Not saying they won't come up with federal restrictions but I'll wait to see it happening before concluding.

With 536,000 dead in the US from this so far I don't see why we wouldn't want to start adding restrictions so we can continue to safely open up. These could be vaccinations but maybe also proof of antibodies through other means, rapid testing, or having certain events/places being "COVID open" vs "COVID tested/safe/etc."

It doesn't have to only be the two extremes of lock everyone who isn't vaccinated out of society or a totally open free for all.
I will say this is the nice thing about leaving certain things up to the states. We get to run multiple experiments all at once and find out the results. This is of course not to mention that places like New Jersey and Montana would theoretically want very different requirements simply due to density.

Not vaccine related, but my wife came down with the Rona and it's full-bore today: loss of smell and taste, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, and chills. Not to mention a splitting headache.

I got my first jab of Pfizer three days ago, and nothing. When I applied pressure on the area, it felt like I had a bruise there, but otherwise nothing.

My wife got her first shot of Moderna and got rocked. But she can be on the sensitive side of things. She had a fever, nausea, a headache, fatigue, etc. She said the headache, which lasted a few days, was unique and a new one for her - never had a headache that ran down from her forehead and down her face, she said.

I’m gonna have to keep a close eye on her after her second.

I’m glad I read the posts here about other’s hesitation and their reasons. It helped me get a better understanding and view of my previous over-simplified view of pro versus anti vaccination. Apparently there’s a lot of gray in the middle too, which I never considered.

If she has any difficulty breathing, take her to the hospital immediately.

Also big possibility we got the C early last year which we survived just fine . So..... I don't know what to do , so I'll do nothing at the moment .

Can you do a blood test for antibodies? It's been said that after six months, they may not show up, but there's been talk of T-cell immunity as well.

AZ is all over the news here today. A doctor/professor at the biggest hospital in Oslo has made a connection between clots and the vaccine.
It seems that the immune system goes into overdrive. The strange about it is that the thrombocytes are low, and there are clots, so a normal blood thinner isn't recommended either.

I'm 48 and (presumably) healthy, so I'm not due until May/June. It's going slow here.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. She's done well. Her headache is better than yesterday, no more diarrhea or nausea, the fatigue is still there, but the chills and achiness is gone. The sense of taste and smell is still gone, but her breathing issues are no more.

Still strange that there's been no fever.

As for the parents, no adverse side effects from the vaccines that they've relayed to me. My dad is in his 80's while on chemo and my mom is in her 70's just plugging along.
