Fonzy you've got a killer setup going there. I just bought the JCA24SV cab and it came in yesterday. Really gets a great sound out of a compact size. Even though the V30s are brand new it still sounds great, although I'm likely going to throw a pair of Lynchbacks in there in favor of the V30s (my Friedman JCA20H sounds the best with those).

So, just one more cover photo entry considering the new cab.

Fonzy - just turn on the subscribe feature - either go to the top of this thread and use the thread tools, or in your profile there's a place for you to auto-subscribe to any thread you reply to (that's what I use). You'll get an email whenever someone posts to the thread. Plus, you've got 28 pages or so to read :D

Nice stacks, guys.

Thanks a lot!!! Yea I'm still on the fence with those V30's, but I play with a pretty dark tone, so it may balance out ok. You've got a really sweet setup your self!!!! Love the Soldano & Jet City stuff. What's in your Soldano cab? Eminence? If so, which ones, and how do you like them compared to the V30's? I've got Eminence Red Goveners in my 2x12 Marshall, they've got a lot of mid.

It came with the Soldano labeled Eminence X12000 speakers, which I didn't care for too much. V30s in it now. I *may* put in a pair of T-75 speakers from another cab, because I was very fond of the Bogner Uberkab I played through a few years back. Jet City 4x12 cab has Eminence speakers, just the JCA labeled ones. Sort of a neutral tone to it, but I gigged with the JC 4x12 and JCA50H last weekend and really like what I was hearing :) If anything I might try out some Eminence CV-75 speakers just for something a littler different than the usual go-to speakers; and to keep it Eminence in that one.

Also note, I removed the fixed depth setup in the 20H (sorry Friedman!), and replaced it with a control knob/cap setup as described in this thread. I much prefer it this way.

First time poster, long time reader. Just bought a JCA22h used from GC. When I first turn it off of standby, the crunch channel master volume has no effect on the output. With the crunch master down all the way, I can increase the preamp volume and hear seemingly normal sound. There is a transformer like hum coming thru the speakers. The overdrive channel works as expected. After about 15 minutes or so, the crunch master starts to work and the hum disappears..I've tried the usual tube parade to see if it's tube related but without success. Is this something to be alarmed about? Should I return it? I don't want it to decide mid-song to stop working..

Any ideas?

What did you pay for the used amp? I'd seriously consider returning unless you for a really killer deal - you can probably pick something of craigslist cheaper, and we've been seeing mind-blowing low price specials at Musicians Friend on new heads lately.

I paid about the last 'stupid deal' price. Once it really warms up it seems ok. Going to rehearsal. I'll give it a thorough lashing for 3 hours. I'll report back. Thx.

Sounds like the same problem I had with my JCA50H after I got it (used). I remember saying pretty much the same thing you said. Turned out to be a bad pot or maybe two. I swapped them all out as I was planning on doing some light mods anyway.

Hey guys. I've been searching both here and on google with no luck. Is there any threads/post explaining how to add an effects loop to my JCA2112RC?

Haven't seen anything definitive. People have talked about using the Mojotone add-in, but I don't recall ever hearing about great success with those, or anything else.

I think its the Metro loop you're referring to. It's $85 if I remember right. From what I've read isn't hard to install. My 20H has one that Friedman put in with the rest of his mods, and it looks like a fairly simple operation if you know what you're doing with a soldering iron and how to handle high voltages.

Snakeskin'd the 50H yesterday. I've been wanting that look for YEARs and finally pulled the trigger on some tolex from Mojotone. Couldn't be happier with the results!

Now the question is, should I do the Jet City 4x12 in snakeskin to match, or no????

Hi, I write here because I have a problem with my tube amp for guitar.
the amplifier is this model:
JET CITY JCA20H.

The problem is that it emits a bad noise like a buzz when I raise the gain and volume.
When I lower the master volume buzz disappears, when I raise the master buzz reappears, obviously all with the selector of the gain to 7/8.
if I lower the gain noise is reduced obviously.
I thought that might be the preamp tubes, and I changed v1 and v2, but the result does not change.

Others have the same problem?
only mine does?

Thank you all.

How is the wiring in your house? Does the hum change when you move around with your guitar or is it constant no matter where you move?

With the gain up that high, you might encounter some noise regardless of what kind of amp you use/have. I have heard many people say they get hum from their amps, though. I have seen some mods to the preamp heaters that have made their JCAs totally silent. I have not checked into doing that nor have I done any amp mods lately, but a friend of mine wants me to look into this on his 22H and 50H.

+1. I second this. You also need some extra tolex for some Snakeskin pants.

Haha. Well I just picked ANOTHER Jet City 4x12 yesterday off CL for $100 so I definitely have a candidate for a matching snakeskin cab. (Guy sold me two 4x12 Jet City cabs for $265 total)

I did offer to make my wife a snakeskin miniskirt with the leftover material. She did not say no . . .
