Took a break from the uber efficient shaving machines I've been using......had a super light day, got home WAY early and didn't need to, but wanted to shave. RR SLOC on a Timeless 85mm handle....got the job done, nothing too crazy. Figured I might as well stick that handle on something else, I'm never gonna use anything on that Timeless .95 except that baby Maggard's handle.

Captain's Choice contest winnings again, felt like an Aventus clone day.

DFS, bunch of buffing but was good. 9/10

Geno, what's up with these Bic Chrome Platinum blades? I just found like 75 of these in a box that I assume must have come from you.

What didn't you like about them?

Also, did you ever grab the lighter Karve plates, the A and whatnot? I don't remember seeing any reviews of those in here...

The Bic blades just straight up stopped on my face when I tried to shave with them. Everyone loves them at B&B, but I think they suck big time. Do they worok for you??

I got the Karve A and B safety bars. The B is too mild. I haven't tried the A. Might sell it before I get patina on it.

Dunno, I’ll chuck one in tomorrow and see. Weird that they didn’t work; after commenting on this one I went to B&B and like you said, they get a shit ton of love. Let you know tomorrow.

GREAT SOTD:

New Brush. Got the handle at AP shave co on Etsy. Got the 25mm Angel Knot from TurnNshave on etsy. Used Epoxy. Worked awesomely. This knot is beautiful.

Soap Commander Renewal. Beautiful scent. great performance.

B&M Reserve Classic splash. Just amazing.

LOVE the Gem Micromatic. Shaves great. 3rd shave on this PTFE blade.

10/10

Was absolutely astonished at how nice the Micromatic shaved; gentle but effective.
Totally expected to my bathroom sink to look like that scene in the shining...

So this started out bad and ended up ok.......Gene, you were right, those blades are ASS:

First stroke resulted in this bullshit:

Image

I did the rest of that side of my face with mounting horror and then ripped it out of the Timeless, replaced it with a Super Max that has 8 shaves on it and relaxed into shaving happy.

That motherfucker felt like a piece of broken glass, what a piece of fuck.

I'm sure they can work for people, if anyone here wants them let me know, there's like 70 of them. Otherwise they go to B&B or they're getting binned.

Side note, won a contest on IG that resulted in getting shipped this:

Image

Anyone tried WSP? This is supposed to be a dupe of Creed's Virgin Mountain Water, kind of stoked, that's one of their scents I haven't even smelled yet, they were out the last time I was in Vegas.

sorry just expressing horror and dismay. As in why would God put men on earth if they were going to invent devices which would do this to one another?

Right? I chucked em up on a shaving forum and they were gone inside of 10 minutes.

Only thing I can think of is maybe these guys are using super mild razors and these work well in them.

Gene and I both use pretty aggressive stuff, maybe that’s why neither of us liked em...

SOTD: Good one.

Guy at B&B was quizzing me on my Mingoose, and it inspired me to go for it today. (The Mingoose is a 3 piece steel razor that takes injector blades).

Image

It shaved pretty great today. The angles are a tad finicky. Nothing I couldn't conquer with repeated use. I still got a tremendously close shave. The Pro Line B20 blades are nice.

Used my AP Shave Co handle again and my TurnNshave Angel Knot. So nice.

The SC Serenity is an absolutely beautiful scent. Just wonderful lather. I can't believe how good SC stuff is. Especially for being vegan and not exotic. It just wipes the floor with overrated stuff like Saponificio Varesino and Nuavia Pannacrema.

BM Behold the Whatsis = the choice for me when the time is right. Just wonderful.

Overall, this was a 10/10. (FWIW, the Mingoose doesn't always give me a 10/10. It needs a good soap to be completely tamed.)

Man I need to grab more SC stuff. I don’t use it that much because I don’t have anything that matches it and I’m somewhat OCD like that; maybe I need to make that my next order. They really do kick ass. Fuck it, maybe some Honor today.

Really think you could get great lather from SC with a fucking fork if you had to.

Timeless killing it....really think this is my forever razor, thinking of offing the Karve.

East Egg has it's detractors but I can't help it, I fuckin love this scent.

10/10, straight BBS.

FWIW, if you look back through SC's old instagram posts, they show pairings of their soaps with 3rd part aftershaves. It could definitely assist in finding pairs that work well.

Shoot, I may pick up a few more Soaps from SC. I really want to try a few, sweet tea, patchouli/lime, bergamot/oakmoss/floral, fir/orange/berries, the new Tenacity, etc.

SOTD:

Maiden voyage with New Sabre! I used the same blade I've been using in my micromatics. So, this was the 4th shave on this blade. i didn't want to risk a dud blade on the maiden voyage. This was probably a good call. That said, the blade is toast after 4 shaves for me.

Back to the Sabre. What a cool razor. The angle is a bit more finnicky than the GEM razors, but it's doable. I thought it did great for my first time. It's nice and maneuverable under the nose. I just feel cool using this.

Soap Commander Recreation. I've been on the fence about this scent, but decided to go for it today since it's a summer soap, and it's HOT out. Shaved great. I'm glad it went back into the drawer and out of the short term office storage.

Myrsol Don Miguel. This is a scent for which I searched for many years. It's just like the Viburnum bush outside my office. Beautiful floral scent. Fades pretty quickly, but that's okay. Light florals are fleeting.

Used the Infinity again. Great brush. Solid. Nice stiff, but not pokey knot. I didn't "need" an $86 brush, but I'm glad I treated myself. The shape and knot setting lend themselves to my technique.

Today was a 9/10 because I was new to this razor, and the blade was nearly shot. Excited to use this razor tomorrow.

BTW, Looks like I missed a day on here.

Saturday, SOTD:

Everything went great. Didn't realize how freakin cold that Oleo Providence aftershave would be. Menthol Blast.
Blackbird was killer. The verdict is still out on the Hallows scent. However, I am coining the hastag #glissantgang
9/10. Aftershave didn't have any staying power, even though it smelled really good. Almost too cold.

Monday SOTD:
F-ING PERFECT:
Image

Soap Commander Vision is so good. If you load like you hate it, the scent opens up further with the amber notes on top of the mint. Just incredible performance.

I was ready to tackle the Dart again today. It was awesome. I went a full week letting the cut heal. There is still a scab there.

So, I used my Phoenix AA Paco aftershave sample. Pretty awesome. SPicy. Smells like some cream my Mom used to wear. I think the PAA aftershaves are a hidden gem, even though I think their soap sucks.

10/10.

Care package received!!! That was a ton of goodies in such a small box!
