Ey yo, oh ey, do youse like campfires and stuff? Well do yas? Get this. I smell like woodsmoke and you don't, therefore I'm much cooler than you are right now.
This was a fuckin great shave, really different scents, shorty Maggard's MR3 handle gave me unprecedented control on the Timeless and it's staying on, even though I have two official Timeless handles.
10/10, I'm gonna miss Glissant tho. Damn glad I have two tubs in the cabinet and there's a shit ton at the shave store still.

SOTD: Really good, especially considering I had to shave over yesterday's scar.

Rockwell 6S - plate 5.
Gillette 7 o clock yellow
Proraso Cypress Vetiver Cream
Proraso Cypress Vetiver balm.
Groomatorium has done it again with old inventory. The cream sample was fucking dry. I had to treat it like a soap chunk in my hand. That said, it worked great, and it smelled divine.
My cypress vetiver balm smelled a bit off. It's only a year or two old. I'm surprised.
I'm giving today a 9/10

Update: delayed bumpy allergic itchy reaction to this balm. Had to try washing it off of my face at office. It’s going on the bin.

Gross. Haven’t had any reaction to anything really, except that preshave.

ugh. still having issues. I had to whip up a batch of B&M pretzel lather to wash my face at work. Trying to get this shit off!

What ended up happening Gene? Pretzel lather work?

Stein,
The pretzel washed away the annoying itchy bugbite-like bump, but then the pretzel burned a bit. I think my face was just cashed from too much shit on it. Today, I went plain Jane alcohol splash, and I feel great. I really hate balms sometimes.

Good one today:

Glassant gang reporting. Father's Day Le Grand Chypre. SOOOO good.
Back to Myrsol to try to get rid of this patch of zitty bumps on the bottom of my neck. No more balms for me this summer.
Blade is probably dead after 4, but it had a good run.
I love this little RR 20mm brush. It's tiny but mighty. smaller brushes are underrated. I like how easily they rinse out.
Rockwell kicks butt, but I'm starting to miss the aggression of everything else.
I'm giving today a 9/10, just because I want my neck to get better. That cut is still a pretty big bump.
Edit: I meant smaller brushes are UNDERrated.

This stuff plus the Timeless plus the shorty handle, just damn. Doesn't get much better than this.

Bro you’re gonna love this.
It reminds me of both Vespers and Promises in complexity, but way subtle. Nothing forward or screaming at you like Aventus, this is a warm blanket of vetiver, amber, lemon, bergamot and sandalwood. It’s nothing you can’t wear year round, but it’s not beachy either. It’s snap brim fedoras and unfiltered cigarettes. It’s tangos and waltzes and jitterbugging.
Weirdly enough, I feel hopeful wearing this. I feel like Jay.
Soap is probably a 5 for strength, the AS is a 6-7 and the EdT is like a 9. My wife is gonna go apeshit for this one.
You’ll dig it.
EDIT: just checked my order and it said EdP; hit Will with an email and he said it’s a typo on the bottle, that it’s definitely an EdP.

SOTD:

Damn, I wish my neck would heal. Still a good shave though.
I've decided the Karve doesn't like the Sputnik. I found myself buffing too much. The sputnik's teflon makes the blade gentle, and I think it likes more aggressive razors. But, I can't use my Dart until my neck heals.
2nd Saponificio Varesino trial. This time, It's the Felce Aromatica. Hmm, pretty good. Still think it's overpriced/overrated.
So, this cheap, healthfood store brand of Aftershave is decent. I heard this one smelled like Original L'Occitane Cade Aftershave Splash, and I'll be damned, it's pretty darn close. Closer than the new Cade EDT, which fucking sucks, btw.
Used the Myrsol electric pre shave today to try to dry out this zit/ingrown hair.
Overall 8/10. Not super enjoyable, but not bad.

Try a 7 O’Clock Black in the Karve if you have one. Dig it the most in there out of the blades I have.

I don't remember the last time I used an Indian black. I'll have to try again.
That said, the Blue Box Platinum is perfect in the Karve too. (feels like the old Russian Black to me)

Sputniks are definitely on the milder side though, not as mild as Astras.
I get less razor burn with Sputniks so, I've been happier with them than with most other blades.
I need to go through my blade collection to see if I can find something better.

FWIW, you might not. Sputniks might look like sketchy commie garbage, but they are PPI(St. Petersburg), laser-etched, current production Gillette blades. If anything, they are probably "Silver Blues" or Nacets coated in teflon. It's one of the only non-platinum blades I like. It's a premium blade.
I may buy another few hundred
btw, for whatever reason, neither of the Astras work for me. It's the only Platinum PPI blade I can't use.

I've been using Sputniks on the regular for about 3 years now... but, you know how it goes...
You use something for a while, get bored, search for something else, come back to your favorite, get bored and search for something else, repeat.

Okay, now for a serious question:
You own thousands of blades. How do you store them? At the moment, I use a 2 gallon bucket, which I will be upgrading to a 5G The next time I go to Home Depot. I’m also considering a second bucket, with a slit cut in the lid, for disposal. Duct tape a full bucket, and dispose, as safety dictates.

I need to try those Sputniks.
SOTD

I had to do it again, with the Karve. FWIW, I haven't done a rerun of anything except one for B&M the entire time I've been doing this. My wife who is completely supportive of pretty much everything I do but couldn't give one single fuck about shaving and actively dislikes some of the stuff I use, came out of nowhere and asked me to do it again. Outer me rolled my eyes and said "I guess" and inner me went SQUEEEEEE
10/10, would do again tomorrow. Won't, but WOULD.

I take the tucks out of the card and toss the entire pile into a box. Then put it into a secret drawer at the office.
Bought 300 more Sputnik’s at rbc.

Sotd. Very good today. The scab finally fell off the cut from Monday.

Oleo soapworks new city. Beautiful scent. Good performance. Got it on clearance at wcs.
Blackbird kicked butt today.
Fwiw, I had to bail on my piccolo today. I must have forgotten how to use it. I hated it.
Today was like a 10/10. Wonderful. Felt great.
