So, my gd laundry soap needs some tlc. Gotta get it wet a few times to bring it back to life. It worked awesome today fwiw.

Used the mingoose injector since I had 3 Days growth. This is one aggressive mofo. Good choice for today.

Rocking my badger barrel. Love it.

Used the Cheshire aftershave today. Interesting stuff. It’s the only bm standard scent using only essential oils. Not that I care, but interesting none the less. It worked well, but I will wait until the deltus release to buy it.

Overall, 10/10. Boy does it feel good to be home.

YES, FINALLY!

Did what you said Gene....WAY more water. Best shave out of this shit ever. First time ever I didn't cut myself using this same setup.

Nothing to do whatsoever until later, everybody was up late last night so no one was up this morning. Took my time with a 40 minute shave, this shit was perfect.

Razor: Karve C plate awesomeness
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Black...Karve loves these, especially brand new which this was
Soap : BM Waves, badass
AS: BM Waves, the 90s live on in this stuff
Brush: Maggard's 26mm

Too tired. Couldn't go to sleep.
Razor: Was fired up to use MJ90. Thinking about giving one to my dad. It was gentle in a strange way. It just wouldn't cut. Great.
Blade: My beloved Sputnik. Felt like it wasn't doing anything. Maybe the razor's fault though.
Soap: Soap Commander Renewal. Great scent, but felt like the lather wasn't surviving on my face. Not sure what happened.
Aftershave: BM Jacinthe. Interesting to say the least. Smells like your hands after you pick tomatoes. I can't see myself using this a lot.

Overall a 7.5/10. Nothing bad happened, but nothing great happened. Working on unwrapping all of my shit.

Stein, THANK YOU for the Don Donato. Smells just like I remember!

BTW, the Bronze Timeless looks how I expected. Beautiful. I'll use it tomorrow.

Haven't used Uncle Walter in a while, always forget how great he is.

Decided to stop comparing Timeless to Karve and just enjoy the fact that I own one. It's a badass razor for sure.

Enjoyed this mismatched shave; felt like some UW, felt like some Timeless, felt like some vanilla. Screw it, I do what I want!

Call it 8/10, no worries....wish I didn't need to buff so much with the Timeless, but who cares, I had time.

SOTD:
Maiden Voyage with Bronze Timeless .78:
Image

Where do I start? So, right off the bat, the profile of this bad boy is quite intimidating. The combs hardly protrude. All I see is blade. Hmm. I loaded a Sputnik and did a dry test shave on my wrist. Yep all blade. Almost impossible to effectively use the comb. (This is a bad sign, since i always ride the bar/comb).

Fast forward, it shaved alright. Very aggressive. More so than my Blackbird or Karve E plate. It's definitely not a daily driver. That said, it's still doable. It didn't stop mid stroke and insert itself into my face. FWIW, I can sort of ride the comb, which is good. I can sort of ride the cap, which I don't like to do anyways.

So, in conclusion, I will keep trying to make it work. I can tell it's not going to be an instant sale/PIF/Toss/etc. (I can't return it anyways since it was a blem/return). I will make this work. I just won't use it everyday.

The BM Beaudilaire is awesome. Smells like LaVanille, but in a fougere. Amazing. This is the excelsior base BTW.

The Chatillon Lux Nefertiti was pretty great. I kind of have a Love/Hate thing with CL, atm. Three in a row have smelled like pure orange blossom, which is fine in small doses, but it's a bit much when I'm thinking I'm getting a fougere or something that smells like Egyptian spices and tobacco smoke.

This is an 8/10.

Interesting. I know from guys that have them all that that one is supposed to be the most aggressive of all the Timeless line.

Lame that it’s mean like that, such a badass looking razor tho.

Be glad to chuck the .68 in the mail for you to try; think it’d be way too mild for you but you never know.

I mean, it's not bad, I just had high hopes for a magical "A HA" moment, and it didn't happen. Thanks for the offer on the .68, but I'm sure it wouldn't work for me.

I'll probably try the bronze again later in the week or this weekend. I'll probably use a 7 o clock yellow.

Yeah I hear you.

I’m gonna grab the .95 this week or next and see what that does; if it’s as smooth as the .68 but aggressive enough that it doesn’t require so much buffing I’ll be stoked.

Report back.

If I wanted a Timeless that shaved like the SLOC (or maybe a tad more aggressive) which would you guys recommend?

Dude I have the .68 and it shaves remarkably like the SLOC to me, although I have the scalloped head and not the OC.

You could classify it as slightly more aggressive. It can bite, just most of the time won’t. I’d go .68 with an OC but like said above, I’m gonna grab the .95 to compare. If you can wait I’ll let you know what I think.

If not I get that disease lol

Oh, I have the disease alright!

But, I'll wait to hear what you think before buying.
I spent WAY too much in May so, I'll have to wait until June or July to get a Timeless.

Speaking of frivolous purchases... I just won this Sunn logo belt buckle on a Reverb benefit auction... at least my purchase is helping send girls to Rock n Roll Summer Camp!

I just finished my first shave with the new SLOC, one of the Derby Turkish blades that came with it, Cremo Reserve, and B&M Adagio. It wasn’t a perfect 10 - there were weepers - but this was a very good experience.

Ever since I switched to DE razors, the sensible advice has always been not to rush through it, that efficiency and speed would come with practice. I still agree with that sentiment, but this SLOC wanted me to shave quickly. It just felt smooth; I only had to redo one small section, and it wasn’t on the neck. It could be the blade, so I will use a Feather on Sunday, and a 7 O’Clock after that.

Good shit man; we’ve all had pretty much the same experience. The SLOC feels like barely a razor in that it feels nowhere near dangerous. I always bomb right thru a shave with that one.

Glad you’re digging it!

SOTD: FINALLY, a great one after a grab bag of decent to meh to no.

Image

Razor: Blackland Blackbird, brass safety bar. This is one of the best razors ever. It shaves incredibly close, but it feels more like an 7.5 on the aggressiveness scale. It's just awesome. I've decided to sell my Timeless.
Blade: Gillette Platnium white/blue. Awesome. It doesn't get much better
Brush: RR 24 barrel finest badger. perfect. my ideal brush
Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic. FINALLY, a Stirling that smelled as good as it performed, AND didn't burn me. Awesome. FWIW, the menthol in this is VERY mild. Not even in the same league, menthol-wise, as my WK Fern Concerto. I don't even think I would try something like Cryogen or snakebite( even though I have a puck of this in storage).
Aftershave: after yesterday's butchershop with the Timeless, my face had a couple of hot spots today. I decided to go alcohol-free with some Chatillon Lux Bon Vivant toner. YES! Damn, I love this scent. This stuff made my face feel like my 5 month old baby girl.

This was without a doubt a 10/10. Nothing disappointing. It was redemption for yesterday. Tried two new things that both delivered BIG time. Excited to try my glacial cherry stirling to see how it measures up in the menthol universe.

Noice on the Stirling, glad you liked it. Haven't tried it but that stuff smells awesome at the little shaving store.

Lame on the Timeless; really thought you'd dig the aggression.

Wish I had the $, I'd grab it off you in a heartbeat, it looks incredible.

By the way, have you tried this site? It lets you put in everything you own (don't worry Gene, there's a bulk function lol) and it lets you rate scents, then it tells you according to your preferences what mixes well out of the stuff you own.....what soaps go with what ASs, balms, etc....plus what would go well with what you already have as far as future purchases go. Pretty neat.

Digging around the stash box for something and found the Savon a Raser...forgot how much I missed this stuff. This blasted an easy shave into my brain...been going hard at BBS lately and using some aggressive for me razors. Felt like a break.

Razor: Eversharp Krona...just a mild efficient shave.
Blade: Gillette Super Max Blue Diamond...fucking SHARP.
Brush: RR 24 barrel-I missed this little thing...been using a 26mm Maggard's, forgot how small and agile this one is.
Soap: TFS...Savon a Raser. I'm rediscovering my love for TFS.....fuck it, they smell great, lather awesomely well and I'm good with them. I have other shit I like better depending on the day, but missed this one. Out of all the stuff you've given me Gene, this one is the best as far as scent goes.
Aftershave: MLS Kraken....I've pretty much been using this nonstop as a daily AS...I love the scent so fuckin much I don't wanna not wear it.
Frag: Creed Spice and Wood...I've got some of their stuff and samples of a lot of it. This one was a gift and smells fucking great, even though it feels pretty heavy and I don't wear it a lot. I will say that a lot of the Creed stuff has the same base undertones so it's pretty much a gamble as to whether you'll like the top notes or not, but they all last like a motherfucker and work well with milder soaps and AS's, so I felt like I could get away with it today.

Kind of a Meh shave today, even with some good points.
Razor: RR Gamechanger .84. I have never truly connected to this razor. Even though I'm Mr. aggressive, the blade exposure on this one always wants to bite me. Didn't love it. However, this iKon travel handle is awesome. I really like short handles ATM.
Blade: Sputnik. Possibly not smooth enough for a razor this aggressive. First time I've questioned the Sputnik during this phase of my shaving life.
Brush: RR 24 barrel finest badger. Soap was too soft, and the brush ate it up. I ended up with soap dingle berries tangled in my brush. Cleaning it was a bitch. (100% my fault, btw. not blaming the soap)
Soap: Australian Private Reserve Fougere Trois. Awesome scent. Awesome Performance. Softer than my other APR's. Maybe, it's just super fresh. I should have been more careful. BTW, this smells just like some classic aftershave. Kind of like clubman. I love this type of scent.
Aftershave: BM Behold the Whatsis. This is quickly becoming my favorite for the sole reason that my wife acts differently when I wear it.

8/10 because I don't really like this razor right now, and I screwed up my loading procedure.
