I was bullied in elementary since I was short. Going to high school as I was getting taller, I realized the only way for people to leave you alone is to make 'em think you're a Satanist. Being in a predominantly Catholic country and on private schools (and later college), people freaked out when they see you into those "Satanic"'music (thrash, metal and hard rock for us regular folks). So they left me alone.

Bullying sucks, it seems to just keeps getting worse whichever part of the world you're at, and the mental scarring that leaves you if you don't get over it will affect their social interaction. What's worse is that with modern technology, you see these being filmed with a regular cellphone and uploaded to youtube for everyone to see, I feel terrible coming across those vids.

I walk thru the projects 9 hours a day......6 days a week. I have over 600 stops on my route.....and there isnt a white family at all. Lots of very cool people.....lots of assholes. And the assholes are both OLD and young.
I grew up poor.....went to a mixed race school. Had friends of all races. The bullies have always been there.....and will always be here. Fact of life. I see in the area I deliver at alot of people struggling to keep it together....
and alot of people that dont give a shit. Yes racism is out of control. I hear it and see it daily. Mostly talk out of the Young guys......but its all over. Am I shocked?? Do I call Fox News? Nope.....thats how it is. I am a white male early 40's. They all call me the the "tattoo Mail Dude..."

Don't join the moron parade. No one said white people are being treated unfairly due to their skin color. I said this kid was treated unfairly because he was smaller than the aggressors. I agree that racism can lead to abhorrent behaviour such as bullying. I think intimidation was part of the Zimmerman case but both parties showed signs of it. Result was like bringing a brick to a gun fight. I am white and have been profiled,discriminated against and bullied and only twice was it not done by other whites.People do bad things for bad reasons and racism or bullying isnt limited to stupid poor white people .

I think the worst part of the video, at least as a barometer to what society has become [and where it's going] isn't so much the ass beating (kids have been whipping eachothers asses for a long time)- its the fact that the adult on that bus, the bus driver, has his hands tied by ridiculous liability rules from the districts.

The "rule" you speak of, they referred to as "school policy". The school can put whatever the fuck they want in their own policies, but it doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't end up in court anyway. Ok , I gotta disagree with this. Us older guys remember when this was absolutely true. Most kids today have ZERO respect for adults or authority. This generation has a lack of parenting in the upbringing of today's kids. And YES, I am gonna go here, but did Treyvon "respect" Zimmerman because he was an adult and acting as an authority figure in a neighborhood watch? No, he punched him and beat his head into the sidewalk. When I was 17 and an adult approached me, I acted with respect. Why? My parents taught me to do that. Not to say there aren't plenty of white collar racists as there are, they just generally have enough....self-awareness to know when its acceptable to be a racist asshat. I hear it pretty much on a daily basis as the only black guy in my store (well, in our building) works in my department. The shit people say, ugh.

I don't have anecdotal evidence to support any stance other than my own, and that is I rarely experience or witness racism where the offending party actually intends to disrespect or cause harm to someone simply due to their skin color. On a human level, most people are just simply people that interact with other people, where any number of things cause friction that have nothing to do with race.


Does racism exist? Yeah, dude. To the mailman, dude you being a white guy walking the projects ain't normal, bro. Most of us simply don't experience that on a daily basis. That said, most of the time I'm in bad areas I see the same thing you do. Normal people that don't pay me no mind because they're wrapped up in their own world. Same way it is where I live, which is predominantly Indian/Chinese.


Shit isn't perfect but I think intended racism is relatively low compared to perceived racism.

I didn't mean to imply you always worked from home man and I'm happy for you that you haven't run across much of it.

Its certainly out there. In full force. I'm not saying KKK, cross burning, let's lynch a dude, but racist attitudes come across strongly in comments people make. I guess I don't see all that much difference from intended racism to perceived racism.

I probably come across as super bleeding heart on it (I tend to come across that way I think ) its just its a very real problem that too many folk aren't willing to admit to because there's always someone worse about it than they are.

Full disclosure, I struggle myself with not being horrifically judgemental about poor white trash. I live in a town that's essentially populated with them (yay low home prices! *sigh* ) and I find myself assuming all sorts of stuff about people.
