I'm retracting this statement

That was a crazy game. Brazil had 12 shots at goal and couldn't score. Cameroon had 2 shots and scored a goal.

That was kind of a throwaway game for Brazil but still wtf

:D

I didn't see any Brazil player tonight forcing their way into the 1st choice team

Yeah seriously lol

Martinelli played a good game. He created a lot of good opportunities that the strikers couldn't convert.

But the others... back to the bench.

Early blow for the usa, really good goal though

Hard to see a way back for the USA now, there looked to be a glimmer of optimism for the usa just before NL scored again (from a similar position to the 1st), difficult to get 3 against a team they're struggling to break down.

Too easy for the dutch, criminal defending.

The dutch had too much for them in the end, probably still had extra gears to go up. Good tournament for the usa, definitely the best usa team I've seen and potential to keep growing and improving, i would expect even more from them with home support at the next world cup in usa.

Yeah I agree with all of this.

The "home support" is really the issue since soccer is not a big sport here.

If you have a kid with superior athletic talent here in the US would you encourage him to play soccer or try the NFL/MLB/NBA? Soccer's status here makes it hard to attract top talent to the sport.

It's remarkable how successful the USA have been, and how much they've improved, as a team and as individuals, considering that it's not really a football nation.

Yeah. Defending was awful on 1st and last goal. I didn't see the 2nd goal. America doesn't have a good striker who can really put the ball in the net.

No upsets so far in the Round of 16. The Japan/Croatia match could have gone either way though

yeah....... I never would have thought this could happen.... penalty shots really can give some crazy results to these matches!

Yeah, that's the 1st big one out of the last 16, get your money on Switzerland, Billy.

Yeah, maybe don't put your money on Switzerland.

The Moroccan goalie defended ALL penalty shots! That's crazy. I don't even remember the last time that happened.

And that's why I don't bet. I genuinely thought Morocco had a good chance of winning, wishful thinking that both underdogs would get through.

This game is making me nervous. If it goes to penalty kicks it's over for Brazil, because Croatia's goalkeeper is phenomenal.
