If you wife is not over 60 and in good health just relax. They are blowing this all out of proportion

you blast me too (this is just my opinion) - but I don't really think they are blowing the transmission aspect of it out of proportion.
If anything, I think they are minimizing it.
IF the incubation period is really up to 27 days - then containing this at all with efforts so far (within the US) are probably futile.
I have a co-worker who was in Germany for Global Shop (2/16 - 2/20) and is just now coming down with Corona-like symptoms.
He was back at work for almost 2 weeks before he started feeling sick, and stayed home. Getting worse, and going to Dr. today.
Hopefully it is just a 'normal' sickness - but we will see.

Yarb's family, too - all had negative tests, and now his wife is trending positive.

The mortality rate, however, I do believe is less than the 3.4% now being reported.
With the long incubation period, and easy public transmission - I think there are probably more (5-10 times? total guess) people who have contracted/spread it (with only minimal symptoms) than the 'official' infected counts.
These cases would knock the mortality rate down significantly.

We're all going to have to ride this out together - hoping for the best!
Stay safe everyone.

all i am saying is that you can't trust anything from china. they have plenty of reasons to minimize and deceive the truth.

our own president is months from an election so clearly also has reasons to downplay as well. stock market is tanking which if you take credit for the gains you gotta take the bad too.

why don't we have testing kits like every other country has? seems like they are way behind on that aspect, almost asleep or golfing at the switch. it could be way worse than we even know or it could be better, without testing kits we have no idea.

the media is clearly hyping it up but without proper data and mismatched / false statements from those in charge it is not helping.

i also think him multiple times a day saying things that immediately get corrected by his own expects is not helping the situation. just a hunch but you probably should not go to work if you have it.

agree with all of that
as to the BOLDED part - my issue is that it appears you could have it for up to 4 weeks, and not even know it - being able to transmit it during (how much of?) that time.
I think it is silently spreading - and that seems very hard to get a handle on.
Combined with the people who ARE sick - and getting back false negatives - this seems hard to reign in.

The one thing I haven't heard - is what percentage of people who are exposed actually 'get' the virus.
And out of those - how many become sicker than a regular mild flu/cold?

yes, i would like to know those things as well. the long incubation period is the scary part. giving it to others while you don't even feel symptoms; not much anyone can really do about that.

I've not seen any information from what I would consider a reputable source that has claimed a 4-week incubation period. 14 days max, was the first generally agreed period and I've seen some information since that says ~10 days. Our company is using the CDC guidelines of 14 day self-quarantine for anyone that returns from a level 3 country or has any indication they may have been exposed...

we had two coworkers that went to the show in Germany (which was not a country in danger at the time)
One has been out for 3 days - he's going to the Dr. ATM.
The other is just sick today (very sick) - and is on her way to the hospital.

They've both been to work since they returned from Germany around 2/20 (2 weeks ago yesterday)
Not positive that they have the Corona virus - but it is concerning.

I certainly hope it's not Coronavirus, but my money would be on Influenza A/B/F#...

is that some kind of drop tuning??

but really - this is just quite a bit of a coincidence - although there is at least one other person (who didn't travel recently) at our office that is out with similar symptoms.

LOL - that's what I was going for...

It's the height of flu season, influenza is pretty rough this year and they share a number of symptoms. Flu would seem more likely, but you never know. Either way it would suck...

There have been multiple reports of people having symptoms after 14 days. "reputable sources" have dropped the ball on this big time. Check out Peak Prosperity on Youtube. Go back and watch his videos from the beginning of the outbreak. He's nailed it every step of the way. He's predicting stuff a week plus in advance.

And now some whistleblowers in China are saying their claims of containment are all bullshit.

I, for one, am shocked that China would lie. Shocked I tell you.

I dont trust the chinese either

This is not as dangerous as thought (mortality rate is higher than flu) but not as dangerous as thought, it will take a while for a vaccine - common sense procedures and clean hygene will help,,,, And OF course the media hypes it up (which is a disservice, but todays media is a shit show, thats another story)

Hopefully the cases start to slow down as well as fear

PS ------ I think we do have to start rethinking relations with china and relying on them for so much production and product, etc - that debate is for another day

Agreed, except I think it will speed way up in the US before it slows down - hope I'm wrong.

Sorry to hear this dude. I read there are two strains going around, so hopefully she's get the lesser evil one.

Guess there's a good chance you have it too. I've been reading that vitamin c intravenously has been working, so maybe dose up on that to help minimize things?

Not worried about the virus.

Buuuuuttttt.....I just went to Costco and seeing people stocking up on supplies and items like toilet paper being sold out reminded me of zombie movies where at first people are like "Oh, it's no bid deal. It'll blow over." and then a couple of weeks later it's total chaos! LOL :zomby:

You go through a couple hurricanes in Florida, you learn to see people overreact and stockpile stuff that’s pointless if the doom really hits.

My body is ready. Whatever.

Kinda in that same mindset. If I get it, gonna roll with it and see how it plays out. Seems with how easily contagious it is being reported as, it's just a matter of time.

Maybe I'll come back as an alien traveling space!
