Had what I thought was a rash, finally ran me down to the point that I went to bed at 8pm last night. P got concerned enough that she did some research, found the exact same thing online and sent it to me.
This shit fuckin hurts lol
Apparently caused by stress/compromised immune system; lot of you guys know I did a shit ton of hard drugs when I was younger, and it fucked my immune system up a bit. Usually not a problem, but I’ve been stressed as fuck at work (that’s changing soon, thank god) also there was some heavy drinking for a few days and I guess it was more than my system could take. Resulted in this. Not a fan; if you think you might have it, see a doc immediately and see if you can cut the duration/intensity. I just figured I’d ride it out, mistake. They can give you an antibiotic right in the beginning that’ll shorten the attack and cut a lot of the pain, but you have to do it within 5 days of the onset. Missed the window.
This has been a PSA from your favorite angry drunk ginger.
When I was around 25 or 26, I broke out with a crusty rash on my side that felt like a really bad sunburn. I go to the local clinic and the doctor takes one look at it and says, "Herpes zoster". I say, "Herpes? But, I haven't gotten laid in over a year!" Doctor laughs, "Well, you didn't have to tell me that because, it's not that kind of herpes!"

Shit man, sorry to hear this. Hope you get thru it quick, Steiny.
Just to tag onto the angry drunk ginger PSA: For anyone who has had the chicken pox, you run the risk of getting shingles as an adult. There is a vaccine available that will help you avoid it.

Another tag is that if you get shingles and you’re around anyone that hasn’t HAD chicken pox, you can give them chicken pox lol

Yeah I’ve been working thru it, but I called my boss this morning and told him I’d need a lighter few days. I went to bed at 8 last night and slept 10 straight hours with no melatonin/sleep aid. Don’t remember the last time that happened. It’s kicking my ass.
Fuck man, between this and this accident this has been a really rougg year for you. Mojo sent brother, hope you get better soon.

having had chicken pox when I was younger the possibility of getting shingles is something I don't look forward to at all.... hope you get better soon man
Hope you feel better soon dude, but, I know a guy who suffered for over a year with shingles. Having said that, my sister had it (mostly on her face) and it cleared up in a couple of weeks.
I feel for you, but you definitely don't have to be old to get it - I had it in my late teens. I should probably get the vaccine, because you can get it more than once and I AM old now It sucked the first time around and I don't need that shit again.
Semi-related - I'll probably get a flu vaccine this year for the first time ever because, well, flu on top of Pandemic Winter would be brutal...
I Love the smell of nitrocellulose in the morning. It smells like........Victory
Damn ... that is a bummer. My grandson had them at 13. He got it in one eye and had to go to an eye specialist for around a month. I had a vaccine around 8 years ago that they told me would help prevent it but now they are trying to get me to take a new vaccine of a series of two shots Think I will pass on this.

I got it in my mid-late 20s when I first started teaching. It was on my arm. I think they said something about it having to with the nerves. I remember pain in that arm and then these little bubbles/blisters began forming. That was almost 20 years ago. I got over it and haven't thought about it since.
