Musician's Friend - SDOTD

Post by IndyWS6 »

Is anyone else relieved when the "Stupid Deal of the Day" is something you truly don't need? I honestly don't need anything, but I want to fill some holes in the gear collection "just because'. Stupid reason? Sure... I damn near bought a low-end Guild acoustic earlier this week because I don't have "campfire" guitar and have always wanted a Guild.

I'm fucked - I'll buy something that is remotely close to a need. It's just a matter of time LOL

Yep. I’m with ya. Glad it’s some shifty mic stands today.

I’ve almost bought some shitty guitars.

I find I'm better off not paying attention to the SDOTD.

I almost gave in and bought one of those $75 acoustics that GFS put up a couple weeks ago. I stopped myself.

Then turned around and bought a mic for multiple times that amount.

You're definitely not alone.
The daily deal website stuff has always been a problem for me.

Back when Woot was a big site I'd check that bitch religiously. Last year I found a daily BJJ gear website and ended up with too much of that gear as well.

I can't tell you how many times I almost pulled the trigger on a G&L ASAT that I don't need over the years from SDOTD.
Guitars:
ESP Eclipse, JR Tele, Gibson LP Tribute, Gibson Government Explorer S I/II, Yamaha FGX830C, Balaguer Goliath, Squire Jazz Bass
Maps:
Egnater Armageddon, 5153 50W Stealth, Quilter, Ashdown RM500
Cabs:
Bogner 4x12, Bogner OS 2x12, Randall MTS 2x12, Eden D410XLT

GAWDDAMMIT LOL
I just got another email with "specials" for some Breedlove acoustic guitars. I don't have one, but I've heard good things. Three of them are $600 or less. I REALLY want a "cheap" acoustic. I have a couple of Taylor's, but they are anything but cheap (e.g. they are "guard with keen awareness" level guitars). I bought a sub-$500 Washburn a few years ago, played it once (it was fantastic), then loaned it to my lead singer/best friend who deserves but can't afford a decent acoustic. It's his at this point. I will never ask for it back. He has 5x my talent and less than 5x the ability to support it. I appreciate the fact that I can jam with and learn from him :)

I'm 3 minutes away from pulling out the credit card LOL

I don't think an acoustic will last that long in a campfire - better to go with a solid body electric.

Have to let us know what you think of it. I've been eyeballing acoustics for a while and have often wondered about the Breedloves due to the amount of hype around them even in the lower price ranges.

You, sir, have a point. To be fair, I was hoping to be near the campfire, not in it. That, of course, depends on how irritated the GF is with my drunken antics at said campfire..

SDOTD is how I got my Breedlove lol..... I had a perfectly good Alvarez and they put the Breedlove that normally went for about $1K for $550 so I jumped on it.... ending up selling the Alvarez after getting it....

I also grabbed one of the ASATs lol....

Nobody jumped in to stop me. You fuckers are responsible for my purchase. :cop:

So, That will bring the acoustic collection to four (Taylor 416CE, Taylor 456CE, Gibson J200 Custom Shop) and the new Breedlove. As a campfire guit-fiddle, I'll name her "Kindling"
