"Guilty Pleasure" Concerts

Post by IndyWS6 »

Who would you like to see in concert that is seriously outside of the normal wheelhouse? For me, it's P!nk. Ridiculous vocal chops, a stage show for the ages and top-notch musicians (Justin D. KILLS)…

And, go...

Dude I’m right there with you. I’m a confirmed metal head that loves rap and good pop. I’ve seen Pink 3 times and she’s murdered it every show. Derrico is a fuckin badass on every level.

I would have loved to have seen Kylie minogue during the fever era.

I'd love to catch a Pink concert. No guilt whatsoever.

I saw Creed in the late 90s. Did not want to go, but my friend had corporate suite seats and it was a night out. They were amazeballs, for real. Changed my mind about the band, really impressive.

Also got dragged to a Cadillac Three show a few years ago. Did not know what it was, looked them up beforehand and heard some old school country twang and was repulsed, almost bailed out. Went anyway and saw the lead guy ditched the banjo live and played a downtuned les paul and actually had Sabbath-like power going on, one of the best shows ever! Now one of my fav bands.

So now I guess I'm open to just about anything....I want to see FFDP :rawk:

Exactly... If you take the time to put aside preferences, you find that that there is some amazing talent outside of your preferred genres...

I went to Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera concerts with an ex. It gave me more respect for each of them. Gwen is a really good performer.

The Christina concert was during her Back to Basics album, which is her best album by far and it was during her peak ability to sing and fucking slay and god dammit did she blow the fucking roof off. It was extremely impressive. Masterclass in blues and soul vocal riffing.

Killswitch Engage, Alive or Just Breathing era, cause I wanna see Jesse in top made crazy form.

Also, I wanna see Dusturbed do Stricken live in top form. Draiman has a sick voice for rock to me, and Dan is killing it on that album where they finally let him do solos.

dunno if there's anyone that I'd consider a guilty pleasure that I'd feel any shame about going to see in concert.... I would say that I saw Papa Roach and Seether a couple of years ago at a festival and damned if they weren't solid AF.... I'd even say Seether kinda won me over a bit, in so much that I thought they were total garbage before and now I don't think that any more.... as for Papa Roach, I get why they got as far as they did, still not a fan, but I get it....

Last year on vacation I caught the Goo Goo Dolls and Train..... I dig the Goo Goo Dolls, solid songs and they sounded really great live... lots of energy..... I'm not a fan of Train and could have left when they came on, but the Mrs wanted to see them, best part of their set was when they did a cover of Running on Empty and brought out Johnny Rzeznik to sing on it with them..... the band was great, guitarist was killer but, all in all was kinda meh for me, didn't win me over at all...

I've seen Disturbed five times. They fucking tear shit up live. It was kinda fun getting to watch a band go from where they started and end up where they were by Ten Thousand Fists. By far, the largest pit I've ever seen was during their cover of Land of Confusion in the Target center. That entire god damn building turned into a people tornado. It was brutal.

And that was a crowd that had went through Chimaira, Lucuna Coil and Killswitch Engage before Disturbed took the stage, and some of us had watched a whole lineup of local and semi-local death metal acts for several hours before that. Music as a Weapon Festival #4. One of the biggest days of music I've ever seen.

I used to go to barbershop quartet shows with grandpa. That's probably as close as I could come to saying it's a guilty pleasure when it comes to music. Some o' those dudes got pipes for days.

Lady Gaga for sure.

FWIW, in the past few years some of the best concerts I've seen have been Solange, Earth, Wind & Fire and especially Common, which was definitely in my top ten all time, joining ones like Bob Marley, the Clash on one of their first US tours, the Bruce Springsteen Vietnam Vets benefit and a couple others.

She isn't a guilty pleasure. She is just a pleasure, but... I was supposed to see Billie Eilish when I was supposed to visit my sister in Denver a few weeks ago, but all that got postponed. Whenever she reschedules that concert, I will be going.
