Economic costs are starting to settle in. The restaurant my son works for is doing 75% less business so all support staff has been laid off until May.

I really don't think most people realize this.

Money will not be flowing in the same ways in the usual places. Some businesses and individuals will be taking a serious beating during this.

we had 50 people let go at my place of work.
A large part of our work is trade shows and corporate events - over 100 shows cancelled already.
All employees are required to take 2 weeks unpaid between now and August.
I work in the retail fixtures side of the business - and even though our business has not been impacted (yet), we still have to take the unpaid time off.

I've been sick since Nov/Dec last year. I finally feel better this week.

All I have to say is if I didn't get Covid, I don't want it.

I have a theory this virus has been in the US since last year. I have friends that traveled during this time and we all got really really sick. One friend had his doc pump him so full of meds his liver went into failure.

The more I think about it, the more I think I actually did have this shit and just got over it. Bout a month and a half ago, i got reinfected or something, got sick again, this time more in my lungs.

Next week my family is moving into more of a rural/country area but it will cut off about 2 hours of driving time each day between school and work. And that's normal days the kids don't have games and stuff. Originally, we had planned on moving this summer but we realized there were a lot of economic factors that were all lined up and we were worried that something could happen soon with the election and who knows what else that would screw it up. I can't believe how lucky we got by getting things done right before this started.

sleewell wrote:just kinda thinking this out here. what happens as schools close, people will have to stay home to watch their kids right? not everyone has a job with paid time off or older kids to watch the younger ones. do those people lose their job or does the business try to stay open with less workers or does the business close for a few weeks too? none of those options are good.

I don’t think people actually realize the potential damage and panic if this turns into a total “shutdown”? Again, unless there is a vaccine/cure this won’t just disappear and it’ll just re-introduce itself once the bans or whatver get lifted.

I’m not even talking only economic issues, but for sure that’s gonna create a giant issue as well. But if we turn this into essentially a global shut down , our lives on the whole, will be in more danger and peril than this fucking virus. That’s when food shortages, I’m sure stuff like the power grid may suffer, etc.
Ill take my chances with the virus. For real. And I’m a guy who has a lung disease,. It’s an autoimmune disease but is also considered a lung disease because 95% of those who have it have it in the lungs. Which I do. I have a 19yo daughter who’s a nurse and still lives here and both my kids are still going to their college classes. When it comes to “at risk” I’m prolly Considered at risk. You can’t quarantine the world. People are gonna get It and, at worst, 98% are gonna survive. Lol. And it seems kids are practically immune. So yeah, this is media panic and again, that’s not diminishing the virus potential, but it is increasing people’s anxiety and fear. And once that TrULY hits panic levels then we will all realize why it is not a good thing to have this being plastered about in literally all things in life right now.

I read a report, and while I kinda doubt how it can be 100% truthful, it really seems accurate.

But it mentioned the amount of times Corona Virus has been reported via news networks and I guess whatver else. And it’s been mentioned more than SARS, Mers, west Nile and all the recent “emergencies” combined. Over a billion times. . You really can’t escape it. And that may be simply to social media is simply bigger and more wide spread than it was even just those few years ago, but this is outta control. Because it was not like this for SARS , etc. The media frenzy has spread like a virus and that trickles down to people and how they respond. When/if people end up acting like Walmart shoppers on Black Friday, but this time it’s because they don’t have food or whatver else, that IS NOTbetter than letting people use their own common sense and do what we can for ourselves while keeping the world moving. I mean even during times of World War, local communities still kept functioning as best they could. It really would be unheard of if things just simply start getting shut down. And I don’t see that as a good outcome at all. Be as smart as you can with your health and safety, but anything beyond that seems like a worse scenario than the virus.. :idk:

My son's 5th grade trip to Catalina Island has just been cancelled. I'm really bummed about this. I'm a volunteer chaperone for this trip whenever I have a kid in 5th grade. I took the oldest two and was looking forward to continuing the tradition. :(

Does anyone know if you can get reinfected after having Coronavirus? Or, do you develop an immunity?

They aren’t sure of a LOT of things. But getting reinfected and it being “worse” goes against most of human biology of building immunity. I also heard an infectious disease expert claim you do build immunity to it. So, wherever you heard that from is in direct contrast to what I, and many others, have heard.

This is why it’s dangerous for anyone to be spouting anything about it cause even “experts” don’t know much at all.

And as a guy who spent a number of years in my mid 20s, afte me being the picture of health my entire life up til then, dealt with very serious health issues. Almost popped up out of nowhere and lasted for years. This was separate and unlinked to my lung disease. Which came later. With zero answers that ended up truth from the “Doctors” I even had some suggest I would likey new kidneys if I were to survive. Long story short, i have my kidneys and I got healthy by stop listening to the “medical community “ and adopted what is called “alternative medicine”, which is the actual real method for health!! But I digress!!! Haha and I know thAts was a far stretch from this, but I learned the medical community actually knows jack shit. Besides major immediate life saving measures, I honestly wouldn’t take much of the medical community including infectious disease “experts” and their predictions to heart, or as “truth”. Especially this early.
You can see from my overuse of “air quotes “ lol, the medical world in general is so far off base and not in line with each other that for me I have a hard time taking anything from it with any degree of confidence.
But Life would suggest we will build immunity after having It. So that’s what I would believe until Sumthin PROVES it otherwise.

actually there have been reported cases of people being reinfected in China.... so it seems there's a chance
