Sonny Landreth

Post by TurboPablo »

Just watched him play a 60 minute set opening for Marcia Ball. Gatdamn that guy can play. They came out and did a 20 minute acoustic set. Then they switched to electric and it was incredible. Totally original, creative and, just, beautiful playing.

If you get the chance to see him, take it. He is absolutely worth it.

That was also my first time seeing him. Dude has something so unique and cool going on. I generally don't care for full time slide players as I think it is a generally lazy way to play. But he is so far above a typical slide player. His style is just beautiful. There were moments where he had this kind of EVH harmonic thing happening while he was tapping all over the board. I've just never seen anyone like him.

Landreth is so damn good. Also Marcia Ball is an old school Austinite. Didn’t realize she was on tour with Sonny! That’s really cool.
