New Puppy Day!!!

Post by IndyWS6 »

We've been (semi) patiently waiting for the right pup and happened across this little feller on Friday evening. Drove 2 hours yesterday to meet him and take him home. 9-Week old, Fawn-colored AKC Bullmastiff weighing in at 22 pounds. We named him "Elliott". This little guy is stupidly strong for a puppy, but he's a sweetheart. It's going to take time, effort and patience to reign-in the eventual massiveness

oh the cuteness. mastiffs are such sweet dogs, even despite their ridonculous size... a buddy of mine had one named zeke who he'd say "ZEKE-- KILL!" and zeke'd stand on his hind legs, gently put his massive paws on your shoulders, and lick your face.

scary.

he was an awesomely gentle giant.

happiest of new little giant dog days!

Follow-up...

Elliott is friggin' awesome. And a Gat-Damn handful. Dude loves to eat sticks. And leaves. And he can destroy a "doggie" tennis ball in less than an hour. Alligator-jawed little Bastard  He goes back to the vet on Thursday for an official weight. I picked him up and stood on the scales about a week ago, but the numbers seemed so unreasonable I threw them out. I'm waiting for verification. We've had him three weeks and today marks the last scoops of the first 20 pounds of food. Based on vet input, he's moving straight to "adult large breed" blends (his vet is a big dog fanatic and a good resource).

We're under a winter storm watch for tonight through Tuesday morning. It will be Elliott's first snow. Should be interesting :snax:
