Laid off again

Post by Kardula »

Today the wife and I got laid off again. I wish that said laid again but oh well. Initially we got outsourced in January, the new company took us on since then but has been sketchy and today eliminated our positions.

Sucks that both of you got laid off at the same time :( it would be good to have at least one income. But it seems like the job market is good right now so hopefully you can find something soon.

Nah, Ivox purchased the Lubbock, Texas tech support department for Suddenlink/Altice. I was a call center supervisor.

Nah, altice outsourced us/Ivox purchased the department back in january (we had gotten the news in november). As much as the executives and ivox wanted to blame altice due to headcount approval issues and whatnot, this was entirely them.

pseudo necro bump on this one. Wife was able to land an ebanking job with a local regional bank, not too shabby, only a 25% pay cut but still managable. Right now I'm working security for a local hospital at a 60% pay cut, but the upside is that I've got an interview in a week with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a pending start date from a federal prison. Money is tight right now, but things are certainly looking up. I appreciate the good vibes.

Glad you guys are already employed and things are looking up, Kardula. My layoff was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I hope the same thing ends up being true for you guys in the long run!

Do you get paid while in the academy?
Hope it's a good fit for you!

Corrections Officer can be a grind on your soul - my daughter tried it and didn't last more than a couple months. She never really told us what she saw that made her quit.

yeah it will be paid, the state pays once a month so that will be an adjustment but I'll get paid for two weeks on nov 1st and then my first full check on dec 1st.

It's absolutely not for everyone, but corrections/leo has been the path I've wanted for a while and I'm currently working with several retired COs. There's some brutal stories in there for sure.
