Queensryche Rocks

Post by IndyWS6 »

God I love this. Chops & talent, great songwriting, tone & swagger. Before the drama and bullshit - this was the shit.

DeGarmo is a master of what he does. So classy. They all are at that point in time. That drum section build up after the solo is superb. Excellent song. This is tangentially related to QR; but I know the 90s get's hated on as a bad time for metal but there was a lot of great stuff back then. Even when "grunge killed everything".

Agreed. For me, QR was epic. Everyone was at the top of their game. I'm generally not a "concept album" lover, but they weaved a story through a series of songs in a way that was truly masterful. That, combined with great musicianship and unapproachable vocals, was special. It's sad that egos and drama brought it to an end. An all too familiar story...

They are underrated around these parts imo

Im not even the biggest fan, but they really had their shit together as a band. Most live clips of this band are just killer

Their music may not be for everyone, but music lovers and musicians have to appreciate the talent and quality.

Tate may be a dick, but the swagger back in the day was absolutely justified...

Fair enough - safe travels...

If you're home and close, my favorite local band (Wicked 4 Play) will be at The Blaze on the south side of Anderson tonight. I'll buy you a beer :)

Mindcrime is a perfect album. Degarmo is a beast and a really nice guy, too.
I was at their New Years Eve show when the album hit. Metal Church opened the show. :rawk:

Saw them open up for Metallica in ‘89. I think Grimes was there too at the LB Arena. I was a wee kid completely engrossed in Mindcrime. Oddly enough, I enjoyed the bass playing and tone. I think the guy played Spectors. I associate how the bass stood out in Mindcrime with how KingsX plays/records.

Yeah, I agree with that too. I don't know what happened with Promise Land, but that album sucked hard.

That btw is the sound of a Spector with a internal HAZ preamp , so much rock had a Spector on the tracks back in the day , has that clear ballsy kinda gritty sound right outta the box , just like the op vid . Great fucking basses .
