The Chappelle special was phoned in edgelording. He used to be better than that.

Chappelle's special wasnt a special. It was more of an improv. Dint get me wrong, hes an amazing improv comedian, but Burr was polished. Chappelle should be better.

I can understand that. I enjoyed whatever it was. But “phoned in edgelording “ I don’t see. I guess it was a special, it just wasn’t traditional standup.

Watched Burr this past weekend. Holy hell. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time. And he was absolutely right. He'd have gotten booed off the stage, if not outright assaulted, had he attempted that show in the US right now.

The fuckstick thing even had my wife practically in tears she was laughing so hard. When he called the dude out for the consent thing she about fell off the couch. "Masturbating vigorously holding a shrimp cocktail." So oddly specific that it's funny in its own right, then he takes off on it. The "male feminist" speech. "I like whatever you like. Will you touch it now? Did I do it right!?" Just pure vicious hilarity for 90 minutes. We need more comedians to be brave enough to tackle this shit.

We watched the new Aziz Ansari special a while back, and while it was funny, it was also very, VERY safe. And I think suffered some for that safety. Granted, he even billed his as a more serious look at the current climate and his place in it rather than a comedy special per se, but it's sad that it came across that he felt that was the only way he could get back out there without being destroyed for it.

Dark times in the comedy world right now. Thank god Burr exists.

Both were fucking hilarious

Watched both with my wife, she was good through all of Chapelle but got a pissed off at some of the parts early on with Burr. I love my wife but that made it even better, some of his man/woman bits hit close to home!

Burr is so fucking angry, I saw him many years ago and don't remember that being as much of his shtick until recent years. Am I remembering wrong, was he always like this?

90% of Burr's special was the routine we saw him do 2 weeks ago. People LOVED it. He was brilliant. My all time favorite comedian I think.

Wish Louis CK was still doing his thing, he's be right up there with these guys, if not standing alone as the best.

Yeah me too. I don't care who he had a wank in front of. They sat there and watched and said nothing because they were getting something out of it. Once it was "safe" to turn him in, they did. You mean to tell me 2 women couldn't take him in a fight???

Yeah he was here at the Cosmopolitan Casino/Hotel. KILLER show. Sold out crowd. Maybe 3-5000 seats in the venue

Ah c'mon, this special was weak and lazy. Burr stomped it as does pretty much any of Jim Jefferies stand up material. Comparatively Chappelle's effort was an embarrassment and has Metallica fanboy syndrome written all over it.

He is still doing his thing.
I literally just saw him this past Thursday. He’s as funny as ever. I can’t wait for him to put out a special again. His current stuff is classic Louie.

How I feel as well.
I literally don’t care at all, especially considering how good he is. The whole “he used his power” thing is a nonstarter to me as such a line gets really hard to pick a part. He got swept up in the momentum of me too, almost got Aziz too (who’s most recent special is also great imo).

I too enjoyed the Aziz special, though I will say it's a very different watch from the Burr routine. It was still a fun watch, perhaps with a bit more introspection.

Dude. You’re gonna love him. He’s dark and weird and awesome.

Wait for ‘Of course, but maybe’

“Of course, children with peanut allergies need to be protected from mixed foods so their allergies don’t act up and they die...but maybe....if we all close our eyes for like 3 months this whole genetic problem goes away”

Or

The only thing stopping people from murdering other people is the fact that it really sucks getting caught murdering other people. If it was more like a misdemeanor and you got a ticket in the mail THERE’D BE SO MUCH MURDER

Everybody would murder at least some people, you wouldn’t trust people that didn’t murder

“I never murdered anyone!”
