First time I saw Link Wray, was when he warmed up for Alvin Lee in the late 90's.
Saw him againm headlining with Nashville Pussy and Los Straighjackets.... also in the 90's.
The Maxwells show in 2000, when I got the autograph, was the last time I saw him.
When he played with Nashville Pussy, Link brought NP on stage, in the middle of his set, to improvise a song along with him.
Links drummer and bass player were replaced by the NP drummer and bass player and the NP guitarist also plugged in.
A singer, from a local band who happened to be there, was put in front of the mic.
Half way through the song, Link waved to the audience and walked off the stage laughing, leaving the members of NP and the local singer to figure out what to do.
It was funny... they all looked at each other with the WTF look in their eyes. The singer couldn't figure out was to sing and was dumbfounded and open mouthed.
Eventually, NP eventually improvised an ending and the audience gave them a round of applause.
Link jumped back on stage, with his band and finished his set.
All in all, it was pretty amusing!
