Worst. Utility Belt. Evar.

Well, many of you know I took off a bunch of weight about 10 years ago. Some was through extreme dieting and not the healthiest way. Ultimately adopted a very healthy eating and gym routine but being excessively overweight for decades left what was "under the shirt" a colossal shit show. lots of extra skin on my abdomen/gunt area as well as chest, etc.

Finally made the move to get it removed. On day 8 post op. Went well and the pain isn't nearly as bad as I anticipated. Constipation from the pain meds sucks but using some tea to help with that. Won't be able to work out for like 12 weeks, at least not any sort of lifting. I walk on my own but am using a walker as well. Had 3 drains coming out of my abdomen. Got one removed 3 days ago. The other 2 should come out this week. Still pretty swollen. They say within the first 3-6 month the bulk of the swelling will go down and at about 12 months is where you fully settle.

One thing my doc does is stitch your ab muscles back in place since apparently as your innards expand due to stomach growth/weight gain, the abs separate and spread apart. They also have to cut you a new belly button. I asked if I could opt out, but he wouldn't do it! LOL

I had no allusions of looking ripped after surgery, just didn't;t want to look the way I did any longer.

Thanks! Yeah it’s not pleasant for sure but it’s weird how even though it felt great to take the weight off (I was 326lbs) I still didn’t feel “good” about me, if that makes sense. Like all the exercise and healthy eating still didn’t fix seeing deflated tits and folds of gut skin. Then you get these crappy feelings of “sure I’m not gonna have a heart attack but I look just as bad!”

Then to still have people shit talk you in public, it’s like you can’t win. Really messed with me. Had been overweight for decades. Just glad to get this part of the weight loss journey over.

wow! kudos!

I think it's great that you had the surgery!

I'd be so demotivated by losing >100lbs, and still look like shit that I would have binge eaten and gained the weight back.

Thanks man! Yeah it was really tough. Sounds wimpy maybe but there’s a time where you’re like “Hell yeah, that was a huge accomplishment” but then you’re still wearing compression garments to try to keep the skin hidden, every material still hugs all the mess under the shirt. It sucks. Like you say, it gets to be like “what was the point, I still hate what I see.”

I remember at my smallest, my wife and I were in Daytona for a wedding and we were walking down S. Atlantic Ave along the beach and some dudes drove by and we’re like “Sweet tits... yeah dude we mean you!” That was awesome. Like, I’m fat for 20 years, now in the best overall shape of my adult life and this is what I get when out with my wife.

It’s weird to look down and see everything flat for sure.

Man; that's some serious stuff, Jer. I saw the post on Facebook but I didn't know the whole story. Sounds like you're on the mend and will be much better off physically once the dust settles. Good for you!

Stoked for you Jer! Hoping the recovery goes smoother from here on.

Fellow fat kid here. I always thought if I lost a bunch of weight, I'd look just like Hugh Jackman with my shirt off. Unfortunately it doesn't work out that way. *kicks rocks*

Cheers dudes. Was bleeding the fuck out last night. Mama Evil almost passed out when she had to maxi pad the inside of my suit and she could see the blood and tubes stuck right in the skin! Lol.

Came into the surgeon today. My drain hole was being fucky and not going into the bulb to collect and decided to just leak onto the floor... it was not awesome! Shit we BOTH about passed out!
