My sister-in-law's Mom had a reverse mortgage on her home in Vermont. When she passed, my sister-in-law had 30 days to repay the $240,000 loan or the bank was going to foreclose. She had to drive from Long Island to Vermont to deal with her mom's house. Luckily, they found a cash buyer and sold before the 30 days was up. Many people don't realize how much trouble a reverse mortgage will give their family, once they're gone.

takes a long time to foreclose, except in texas lol, most blue states like vermont have very long time frames.
just like many things, reverse mortgages can be good for some and bad for others. i get upset when its always the big bad banks fault when people enter into an agreement that they neither read first nor took the time to understand. if you don't get something the answer is not to move forward and blindly sign your life away. be smart, hire someone to read it for you if you have to. its just dumb to blame others for your shortcomings after the fact. the big bad bank is not beating down your door forcing you to sign. i read an article recently bashing reverse mortgages and the people who were in foreclosure had either not paid their taxes or lapsed on their insurance but of course the evil banks are horrible.
btw... we are guitar players lol does every famous player always play their sig gear?? pro-tip: some of them just take the money and play whatever they want.
