K so first of all, either fuck the Hawk right in its ass, or fuck the Kai 'Milds'...ain't NOTHING mild about these blades and this razor fuckin bites me every. single. time.

I almost threw it in the trash, I'm so pissed at it. Had to do 2nd pass with the SLOC cause OW. I hit that aftershave after I was done (keep in mind I tried this yesterday after 2 passes with the SLOC and everything was fine) and almost screamed like a little fuckin girl. It was FRIGHTENING how much that shit hurt; I wasn't expecting that at ALL.

Soap is good though.....feels 'drier' than the TFS stuff I'm used to.....was thicker and 'scrapier' if that makes any sense. 2nd pass I used a LOT more water and shit was better. This has got a really clean scent to it, almost like a Lever 2000/Coast bar of soap type of thing. Aftershave smells different and I like it a lot more. It's great.

That fuckin Hawk you guys.... :nono:

Gene, what are you using to take pictures? They look fantastic! Nice and clear and crisp... I think I need to upgrade from my 2005, 4 mega pixel Sony POS.
My cellphone sucks for pictures too.

Thanks dude!!!!! Plain old iPhone X. Normal picture mode. Using the included vivid filter and cropping ability. That’s it. Natural sunlight in the morning helps.

I appreciate the compliment.

Here’s what happened.

Face on fire. Had to put diaper cream on it to soak up the toxin.

Buhjeebuz!!! What a drag. Have you figured out what ingredients cause that? I guess, soap makers don't always list all their ingredients so, it's a crap shoot.

The bummer is , the ingredient list looks pretty normal, but “coumarin” is one that stuck out. Something like 4% of people with European ancestry are allergic. Just like oak moss absolute. We’ll see. I have the lemon and spiffero versions too. Neither contain the coumarin. I will try them on my arm before I do the face.

I guess inside of elbow bend should be sensitive enough if the reaction will be as bad as it was on my face.

Fingers crossed. I don’t want to eat 6 jars of preshave.

Sotd: wishing it weren’t 37 degrees and raining shave:

Razor: mamba 70. Rather enjoyed this today. Not the closest shave ever, but so mild and nice. Pretty sure the blade exposure on this is somewhere between neutral and negative. I’m not sure you could cut yourself with it.
Blade: normal Russian Gillette platinum. Shaved great. Underrated blade.
Brush: rr amici 20mm. Fun little brush, but too small for me. This May be better as an office brush or for travel.
Soap: Australian private reserve bombora. Took a chance on this $25 soap. I had a good feeling about it since the Florian was a smashing success. This was no exception. Great, painty lather. Great scent that unfolded for me. Somewhere between a car wash and a beach. Great performance.
Aftershave: tfs stupefacente. Yes. Yes. Yes. What a great scent. Nice and strong. It’s kind of tropical, but not peaceful. Makes me think of guerilla jungle war.

Determined to get the most out of the Hawk...used the TII handle hoping it'd balance it out. Helped some. Two weepers out of this.

I'm realizing this is not an everyday razor, not by a long shot. This is a once a month razor when I have the time; if I rush this, I cut myself every damn time. It's not a fast shaver at all...this thing needs good prep and about 30 minutes of careful paying attention, there's no autopilot on this one for me.

This thing is going back in the bag until I have some more experience.

Interesting one today.
Razor: Mamba 70 again. Just like before; it feels like it's not doing anything, but it is. kind of. It worked fine. I think I gravitated to mild this weekend to give my chemically burned cheek time to heal.
Blade: shave 2 on Russian Gillette Platinum standard. Worked fine.
Brush: RR 400, awesome.
Soap: Grooming Dept Coat tails Redux. Hmmmmm. Best lather ever. great shave performance......gut wrenching, stomach-turning scent. Imagine the smell of the Road Warrior movie. Burning rubber on fire. a generations old leather jacket. dog food. a dog. people who don't shower. an oil rig. REALLY cheap beef jerkey, yep. Wretched. I'm going to see if I can air this one out, because it's truly the best base I've ever seen. This is the Lusso milk tallow formula.
Aftershave: Tiki Salty Air. I used this cloyingly sweet summer aftershave to try to mask the scent of post apocalyptic Australian desert outback oil refinery fire. It worked!

Overall: 7/10, because i wanted to seriously throw up.

Stein, what's your shaving angle with the Hawk? I wonder if you're riding the cap too much with it. I ride the safety bar on my Hawk.

Cool pic, btw. Love seeing Stupefacente get love.
