I know the Red Dead hype is real but I prefer my wild west to be radioactive. Anyone else in on the beta?

How is it? I have been playing Fallout since its inception and am one of the (seemingly) few who truly love FO4. I am on the fence about what I have seen from FO76 so far.

I'm a huge fan of Fallout and I'm also one of the few that fully love Fallout 4. On the whole I think its the best, although NV reigns supreme for story.

76 is a lot like 4 so far. I really love it. The expanded crafting system is like crack to me for some reason. There's definitely more of an emphasis on found stories since there are no human NPCs but I really like that. I've been loving all the holotapes.

If you loved 4 I think you'll love it. I'll let ya know if anything changes as the beta progresses

Cool! How significant is player interaction? I actually don't like games I have to play with other real people. Just not into dealing with randoms.

There's a wanted and revenge system that's pretty cool. That said, I'm about 5 hours into the game and beyond events I haven't worked with or even seen other people. I haven't talked or traded with any people. The maximum people in a server is like 24 and the map is 4 times the size of Fallout 4. They definitely designed it to emphasize solo playing.

I plan to play it basically solo unless I get a really difficult quest. I've got 4 buddies also playing the beta and I've yet to join them for anything

I like playing alone too.

I'm a fallout fan. Sometimes I miss multiplayer elements in games but in RPGs, it just invites someone with waaaaaay more time on their hands to come pwn me.

The PVP system is great. You initiate pvp by attacking but you do severely reduced damage unless the other person retaliates. If you manage to kill another player without them retaliating you cannot loot them and you get marked as 'wanted'. A bounty is placed on you that is payable from your cap supply.

I want to like Fallout 76. I have also played all the Fallout games and what I love about them is the unique and bizarre characters you meet, the choices you have to make, the outcome from those choices and the general atmosphere of the wasteland. And from the reviews I've read, it seems like only the atmosphere has been carried over.

Maybe I'll give it a shot if they do a free weekend or something similar.

Are there non-hostile mutant/robot NPCs?

It will be awhile before I get around to trying this. I've still got to finish RDR2 and hell, I never finished AC:Odyssey either.

The lack of NPC's is extremely strange to me. Having an interesting story helps motivate me to play, so this is where I'm the most skeptical.

Robot NPC's eh? So is there an overarching story? I kinda thought each mission was it's own mini story or something. I should probably do some actual research.

Its just like any other Bethesda Fallout game, there is a main quest and a tons of little self contained side quests.

The main quest has you follow the footsteps of your Overseer and try and determine why all the humans in the area are dead. I'm really enjoying it.

I played it last night. 2 fgts started shooting me when I was sneaking in a cave on a side mission and we're about to kill me. I fired back. I shouldn't have but I hate feeling helpless. This ruined my experience, so far. I'll try it again later tonight but this game certainly isn't grabbing me like the others.
