Digital age televangelists. Patreon bobbleheads have replaced the infomercial. Sam Harris is calm in a debate, but that doesn't change the fact that he's completely out of his element most of the time. A good example is when he was absolutely clowned by an actual counterterrorism expert who worked in the field on the issue of profiling. And Jordan Peterson makes decent points about campus leftists, but everything else is long-winded gobbledygook. He's the Deepak Chopra of the alt-lite.

The issue they’re trying to hash out is where we’ll derive our moral and value structure as a society and more broadly for all humanity. That’s really the crux of this discussion. Two guys with different paths towards assisting people in figuring out how to value and judge things morally.

I just don't find them very impressive. This kind of stuff was pretty common place in the past. I suppose young people are more lost than other generations thanks to the Internet.

Not really. I was trying to think of specific examples but I'm too old now. Suffice to say, my generation (born in the 70s) knew all this jazz. I want to say it's because we were taught plenty of history in school / college.
