What's the purpose of having a 47uf cap in series with the guitar input to the 1st grid?
I'll start by imparting my effortless polarization by virtue of participation..

paying the $400 only lets you hot-link YOUR pics online.
If you paid $400 - it wouldn't make a shit's difference in all the broken pic links in threads.

The problem is that Photobucket wants the person posting the picture to pay them for hosting it on any forum, webpage, etc. Not the person viewing it - once the ransom is paid, the poster's pictures will show to everyone who sees the content.

In this particular case, some of us who posted before the ransom demand are still here, but haven't taken the time (and it's not exactly easy or quick) to fix all their posted pictures. I'm a prime example of that part. The bigger problem, however is that many of the early contributors to this thread (Edge, Jay, CTN, etc.) haven't been seen around here in a loooong time, and they'd have to physically fix all their pictures by first re-uploading them to another service / host and then re-post the link to those in their original posts here.

Not cool, photophuket. Not cool at all. They have single-handedly ruined a great part of the internet. 10 years of forum knowledge bases killed with one stupid move.

...actually, I may be mis-stating part of this. It's not that you can't see those pics at all - I think you can still click the ransom picture and see the pic. So, I guess someone could download them and repost to another service, themselves.

What's keeping me from doing some of that is whatever service gets used could turn around and do the same thing as photobucket. Or disappear altogether.

le sigh :sigh:

Hey guys, I want an amp with dual master volumes, but I already really like the way my 100h sounds. Will the Amelia be able to cop the Jet City 100h tones I'm getting?

Before buying a new amp consider getting a re-amper. I use an Unleash with my JCA50, and use its 2nd channel for solo volume boosts.

From what I understand, the Amelia circuit is completely different from the 100h/50h. I mean, both are basically variations of a hot rodded Marshall (Amelia being a Cornford MK50II clone and the 100h/50h being a Soldano Hot Rod + clones), so I'm betting both have some overlap in tone, but probably a different feel.

So I'm late to the game on this but would the other line 6 M series pedals work, like the M5? I would think it should but I hate to order one to find out it doesn't.

From looking at the manual for the M5, it's pretty much identical to the M9 and M13, in terms of signal processing. So the M5 should work just as well as all the other M-series pedals.

Hey everybody, I don't usually post, but I have been wondering why I don't read much about the Amelia. It seems that it never gained any popularity but I can't figure out why. I bought one and really like the sound of both channels. The factory voicing delivers really good clean and overdrive sounds. It's not the Soldano sound, but is a tighter and clearer distortion, IMO. Thoughts?

Hey Guys,
New JCA22H owner here (about a month).
Planning to send to BFG for some mods.
Swapped all tubes for JJs.

Went to jam a bit today, switched from crunch to OD and barely any sound. Very very low volume coming out. Crunch channel is fine. As soon as it switches, barely any sound. OD channel dead.

Any ideas what to look for 1st? Prob return it to GC since it is about a month old. Grrrr!

Well, that caused me to go out and pull trigger on a mint but used Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 :)

Hopefully I'll be picking up a JCA20H tomorrow. It already has the depth mod and a dark switch. $150. I was wondering which of the Brown mods is the most popular. I'm thinking of going with the Brown Bear.

Hi everyone!

I've been thinking about getting a Jet City amp for some time now. My idea is to get the JCA100HDM, but I have my share of doubts when it comes to the FX loop of the amp. I plan on using the Line 6 POD HD500X, and I've read in this thread that the 4 cable method worked well, but I couldn't find anything more than that. There is nothing about this on YouTube as well, so I'd really appreciate if someone who's got the HD500X unit can weigh in.

It would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, are there any JC Amelia users here?

Thanks!

I'm now a new owner of a JCA20H and have a few questions. This one came with a depth mod and a dark switch. Can someone fill me in on the dark switch mod? I can't seem to find any info on it and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks

Sorry gents - there just hasn't been a lot of enthusiasm for the JCA stuff lately. I've nearly moved on (still have my 50H, but it's literally sitting in a corner of my dining room in a pile of other very unused stuff.

Not sure what the dark switch is / does. That's a new one on me.

I have tried my POD HD500X in the loop of my 50H. Seemed to work well. Works really well with my Boogie Mark III. Maybe I can try hooking it back up to the JCA and see how well my Boogie patch works. What specifically were you looking for, @nikodroid?

As to the Amelia questions, that amp is seriously intriguing. Would love to hear / play one sometime.

Greetings -

I picked up a JCA20HV last fall and have been testing it out with different speakers, etc. I'm happy with it thus far. I play a mix of bucker, SCs, and few vintage gold-foil pickup guitars. Been doing a lot of experimenting, but I like where the Preamp breakup point is dialed-in on this amp. I've generally leaned on Fenders (Twin, Princeton) over the years but I was looking to into EL34 amps, had never much explored 'gain' amps previously and I saw some good things mentioned about Jet City. Found a B-Stock at Guitar Center for around $225.

Last month, I found a deal on a Jettenuator on Reverb so I can now push the amp a bit (without needing ear plugs).

Based on some reading, I'm looking at possibly swapping out a different tube compliment and also ordering a matching (custom) 2x12 from the Jet City site later this year unless I find something else in the interim. I figured I'd follow this thread this year and would be happy to post back what I discover about this amp if it would interest anyone.

I just come here to show off the mod i've done on my JCA50h, and I don't believe there's any talk of this on this topic.
I added a sweep pot (like on krank amps). It was a nice guy on the Official JC group facebook page that told me how to do it.
For the metal-heads like myself it tightens up the amp a fair bit, you can go from a boatload of mids to very scooped. Anyways I'm loving it, if anything i'd say it"s more important on the "to do" list than the depth mod, and equally as easy to do !
On a 50/100h you just have to replace the r24 resistor with a 100k linear pot, on a 22h it's r26 that needs to be replace with the pot and on a 20h it's r21.

Anyways here's a quick video I did.

I'm most play metal, wondering whether I could use this while at home too (small apartment).
Can someone please tell me how amp sounds at around 70-80dB (using a phone app like NoiseMeter on Android)? ie. how good (or bad) compared to running at the volumes it's meant to.
I understand an attenuator can help, but am curious about without one.
Thanks in advance
