If you don't count AEnima, maybe possibly. But Mer de Noms is no AEnima.

Dig that new APC song. That said, it's something I'd throw on every now and again... can't even remember the last time i played an APC song. They're very well done for what they are, super catchy. It's like pop metal though. Good emotions but nothing that really sticks with me and has me coming back... very dated sounding these days IMO. I will say i haven't gone back and listened to Tool in a long time either but that's only because they refuse to be on Spotify and that's the only place i listen to music since it came out. I did just jump to a random Tool song on the sidebar of YouTube right after listening to that and it was far more interesting than that song.

but my opinion probably doesn't matter because I still think Opiate is greater than any other Tool or APC album.

One of their best songs of all time... the breakdown is just THE BEST. The vocal phrasing, the words, the vocal styling, the music the build up right at the part i marked right here up until the end is just perfection.

Um... No.

Seen both live. That really settles this argument definitively.

However, there are some really important moments in life where APC exceeds Tool by a significant margin. Specifically when in bed with a woman.

Neither of these bands have aged all that well for me. Used to love them, but now that I'm older I'm just kinda meh about them.

I'm seeing APC in November. I will have seen both then. My opinion will be former then. I like both bands for different stuff.

I'm pretty much here overall. There are some special moments I will listen and think, "Yup... fucking amazing" but most of the time I'm feeling like, "Nah... not really feeling this the same way... why Maynard? Why?"

Except when the right APC song pops up on my sex mix while I'm mid-stroke. Shit works.

Same but i think APC has aged more. Tool is still relevant but i just stopped caring over the last decade with no new material.

BUT... man, Opiate holds up like crazy! Seriously, nothing pumps me up like that album.

I feel like Undertow was the most timeless album from Tool, personally.

Aw man, I still love both. APC is a phenomenal band but there's something about Tool that always gets me going no matter what.

I've been a fan for a long time but haven't actively listened to them for years. However, I saw them live this last May and it was the best show I've seen in the roughly 8 times I've seen them over the years. Just phenomenal.

That first album of 30 is a far departure from the utter shit they put out now.
