New Foo Fighters (This is pretty cool)
Its not a ballad, it kicks in pretty heavy and unexpected after a min or so.

Re: New Foo Fighters (This is pretty cool)
Random thoughts:
- Holy shit this is funny.
- Is that Missy Pyle playing the nurse?
- Is there another band in history with two cooler signature guitars than Chris' Tele and Dave's Gibson, at the same time, no less?
- For all their success, Foo Fighters have never, ever, turned down or softened their approach. When I saw them live, I was struck by the fact that like 90% of their biggest hits feature Dave screaming his head off for extended periods of time.

Hilarious video, but the song rules hard. A lot of great riffs, and epic songwriting as always.

Watched the first vid at work esterday and listened to the song again on the way to practice. I dig it. Still need to check out the second clip.
Yeah Dave hasn't slowed down at all. I saw them a couple years ago when Dave had broke his leg and they still were on fire all night. They didn't slow down for anything.

Same here. I saw them on the broken leg tour, guitar throne and all.

I road-tripped with a friend, driving from SLC to Denver, which was the closest stop on that tour. I did it more or less as a solid to him; I like FF, but they were a bucket list band for him, and he offered to pay for my ticket if I'd do the trip.
It was a hell of a fuckin' show.

And an hour in, after the 12th song in a row to which I knew most of the words, I was forced to reflect on just how deep their catalog is. Dave Grohl has written a double shitload of great songs at this point.
Plus, there was a definite "Dave moment" at that show - during the acoustic version of "My Hero," he noticed a dude in the front row had tears in his eyes. Dave stopped the song, ridiculed the guy (completely affectionately), brought him up on stage, and serenaded the "drunk, crying motherfucker" with the remainder of the song. What tipped it right over the edge was how obvious it was that Dave was having a little trouble keeping it together himself.

Re: New Foo Fighters (This is pretty cool)
That's an awesome story!
I only own one album by them and it's just a greatest hits. It's about 15 tracks, pretty solid stuff. But then you look at some of the dogs that didn't make the cut to this GH album and realize "Damn! There's a lot of great songs here that they've done not on this album!" And as a more casual fan of the band it's easy to forget how much they actually have written.
I have a lot of respect for Dave Grohl as a songwriter, musician and person. He want from such an awful situation of how Nirvana ended to picking himself up and reinvigorating himself and his career. And he gives 110% every time he goes out too. Not just with the Foo Fighters either. He does a great job keeping himself active and busy with quite a few projects.

that was cool. I don't share the Grohl/FF love to the degree a lot of people do, but I like a lot of their songs.
