Fixing a screwdriver hole in a speaker

Post by ajaxlepinski »

So, I punched a small hole in my Greenie, while mounting it in a 112 cab.

I was planning on sealing it with some weather stripping goo that you use on cars. Better ideas will be appreciated!

if it's like a quarter inch hole, use layers of tissue paper + elmer's glue mixed with water.

I've used this method with great success.

Yup, small hole the diameter of a phillips head screwdriver - just under 1/4".

Elmers Glue cut with water and tissue paper... sounds good! :thu:

Coffee filter, cut piece just bigger than the hole. Glue with rubber cement or Elmer's.

You only want to fix one side, it really doesn't matter. You will see it less if you fix the back. Also, if you don't have coffee filters and you do have rice paper, silk or rolling papers... After the glue dries, you can paint it black with a sharpie, let it dry then put a little bit of Elmer's glue on the paper to strengthen it.

Got some rice paper, parchment and some other artisanal paper.
I think I'll cut a 1/2" circle of rice paper and Elmers glue it on the rear, let dry and sharpie than, add a final coat of glue.
Good to go!! Thanks for the help!!!! :rawk:

Clear fingernail polish woks too, and comes with a handy little brush.

IMO, don't sharpy it.

You're just risking hurting the repair you've already done by making it wet and adding solvent.

leave it white.

BTW, coffee filters are relatively thick. Definitely wouldn't be my first choice.

rolling paper is a good suggestion if you don't have tissue paper.

The thinner the coffee filter paper the better, for sure. I wouldn't use the cone shaped coffee filters, some of them are too thick.
