It's OK. Didn't hit me like Koloss. To me Koloss was the ultimate Meshuggah album up to that point. Just a crushing record and actually I could say it's one of my favorite albums of all time. Top 10, or at least top 20 for me.
Supposedly they did play this live in the studio. Meaning they cut the drums, I assume, while the others played along with him. That's how we cut my band's last record, so obviously I'm a fan of that type of recording process. We'll see if the results are better. For a band like them, that records as essentially solo musicians over the years and has even programmed the drums, this might be a little disappointing to their die hards who still contend ObZen is the shit. Even tho it's overall boring and has almost zero replay value
Koloss was almost perfect. This sounds similar in production which is a good thing too. I'm certainly interested, but this track I would think isn't the best one on there.
^I felt like the singles they dropped from Koloss were the weakest songs on the album (Cept for Demiurge, that shit was lit) so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case again
That said fucking love this track, excited to hear the rest
