Steven Adler just brings a different "feel" to them as a whole unit, i think he really does, i cant put my finger on it but they sound better than with Sorum on the drums, Adler is a big part of the original GNR sound imo..
Axls is also also surpising the shit out me (and others) hes really doing a good job, way better then i thought he would, the whole band (of course Slash and duff) but they really sound good on this clip you have to hand it to them, i hope it continues

Man that was fantastic! Way cool to have Adler up for a few. Nice to see how naturally he still plays and looks pretty healthy. I remember watching him on one of those rehab shows and it was heartbreaking. Always seem like one of those "really good dudes who couldn't handle his shit" types.
Adler personfies everything i believe makes a good musician. He isn't playing any beats you havent heard before. He's WAY loose. His timing fluctuates quite a bit. He's had a major drug problem.. lol. Ok, you don't need the last one.. But yes, GnR sounds better with him behind the kit, cause he's raw and he plays "dirty". Its all feel. And he'll make the simplest beat have swing and groove. That's the shit that's important.

After watching that vid last night, I went to youtube and started watching the Live At The Ritz stuff. Again.
Steven was driving that bus for sure. Just holding it the fuck down and having fun the whole time.

Oh for sure. I watched that when it aired and it is as awesome now as it was back then.

Steven seems to play behind the beat until the tempo speeds up. Then he's either dead on it or just a tick ahead. Pretty damn cool. He just has that feel for it.
That was pretty awesome. I haven't been following this much which is a shame because I would've drove to Chicago to see them with AIC.
So was Adler just playing a couple of songs or is he back in the band? That would be great if he was permanent. They're doing very good it seems and everyone agrees about Axl so no need to go there.
They need to just get Izzy back and keep it going with a new album.
