Oh I can dig it. I thought about Exile on Mainstreet being my desert island disc but ZZ would remind me of Texas - plus all those delicious licks.

Ghosts In The Machine.

Stewart Copeland is at his beastly best on that album.

Hmm. Yeah, I might change mine to Exile. Too many choices! :idk:

My desert album ZZ record might be Rio Grande Mud, except I would be walking around with a full woody all the time. It might scare the natives.

You are the second person to say Rio Grande Mud today. I started the same thread on FB and my buddy said the same thing. Or Tres Hombres. That would be my #2!

Overall, that album is equal parts beautiful and creepy.

Hands down my favorite Police album. Covers the gamut of there talent while veering heavily towards funk.

Mind altering and mind blowing music.

And again, Stewart just crushes shit on that album. Pummels his kit like a god.

i could live with any of the first three zz top records.. but i do love rgm and tres hombres more than the first (ducks)... especially the vinyl masters... i got those on cd and almost cried after billy g tried to turn them into something else in the late 80's...

but i will always have tres hombres and rio grande mud in my truck. alongside double nickels on the dime. i'm not sure my truck would start without them somewhere close to the ignition... and i know it never has HAD to start without those three albums in it.. :D

Yep, me too.

My oldest sister turned me onto them when I was like 5. I had all their albums at my disposoal. Still listen to them on the regs. Theyr were and still are my first favorite band.

Stings solo career proved they were the sum of their talents together. Never apart.

But then again, they really did hate each others guts. If you have never seen "Certefiable"it's worth watching.

Solid decisions all around. My pick is probably Miles Davis - In a Silent Way.

That's a good one, I was gonna go with Bitches Brew. This question is impossible to answer but I still get something new out of that album every time I listen. I figure that makes for a good desert island solution. Perhaps Sextant - Herbie Hancock too

Yup. When I really think about what I'm gonna have to listen to while having a conversation with a volleyball, it's gonna be jazz or classical. I went with Ludwig cause I honestly don't think I could live without the maestro.

Yeah, exactly. It's a fun hypothetical and like Spawnofthesith said I see this more as a question about what records have you found stimulating and interesting over a long period of time/what do you always get something out of listening to.

Bitches Brew on a desert island would drive me fucking nuts because they hit the fattest groove for a couple measures and then immediately jump out of it back into some noise shit.

I'd probably get bored of Beethoven after a while, but I could definitely get down to some Chopin or something like that

I know what you're talking about but I love the noise stuff on that album so I'd be good lol.

Now something like Coltrane's Meditations would probably send me into insanity after a month or so

But I'd probably have to go with Richie Kotzen's Mother Heads Family Reunion :rawk:

That is a great choice and always in heavy rotation for me. I would have to say Sabbath Bloody Sabbath or Shotgun Messiah's - Violent New Breed. For anybody here looking for a great forgotten/lost guitar player Harry Cody brought the goods. Les Paul into a 5150 when I saw him live in the 90's he blew my mind.

I have been thinking about my selection and as much as I love SRV, I think I could be in a coin flip situation with One More From the Road. It really depends on how much coconut whiskey I'd be able to whip up on the island.
