Ginger Baker movie on Netflix

Post by JiveTurkey »

Just watched Beware of Mr. Baker on Netflix. Great flick about a grumpy old a$$hole who happens to be an amazing drummer (obviously). Never been a follower of his music as I spent my youth listening to speed metal  but the dude has chops

I would love to have seen what he could do in a more modern context (Masters Of Reality aside as iirc they were not my bag). Talks about his (lack of) interpersonal relationship skills (which is truly appalling) as well as him jamming with most of his heroes. Who also happen to be killer drummers. My god those jazz cats were off the hook :rawk: I also find it very funny that he looks better as an 80 year old man than what he looked like when he was in his 30's. Drugs are bad, mmmkay :) If you have an hour and a half to kill; check it out :thu:

I figured you had already seen it  You ain't kidding about the badass part  I have never seen someone make some many fresh starts only to say "F**K IT" and walk away.

His drumming skills are inversely proportional to his bandmate skills  I don't think I could deal with him; no matter how great he was

I'd like to see more about that side story of his adventures in Africa. If you search YouTube for Ginger Baker Africa there is some cool drumming with some Nigerian 'talking drum' musicians. Gets your toes tapping pretty quick.

I watched that twice now, completely mesmerized/astounded by it. I always loved Cream.

I don't see how someone didn't beat him to death!

How many times did he say someone had perfect time?
