Got a new sig! :)

Post by draelyc »

Buy my stuff so I can agonize and whinge over all new amps & stuff, yo!

But srs, the Plexi has pretty much transformed my taste in amps, so I'm letting almost everything else go. Monies aside, it feels kinda liberating, y'all. Finally found an amp that's as much "me" as my Hamer Mirage. That's been a long time coming, as some of y'all know. #:-s

Noice. Congratulations and good luck selling your stuff. But we all know that selling all that will just cause more amp purchases at some point
This contentment thing is an ongoing struggle.

I have a '78 superbass and a speed twin at the moment. Needless to say the speed twin doesn't see much electricity.

Well, now, to be fair, the Speed Twin's not a bad amp ... it's just not where I am these days, tonally. I'd prolly be the same way with a Superbass in the house, but that's apples to oranges, innit? :)

Hey, mang ~ I've jammed on it a little bit now, and I dig the mod. It seems to be a lot more open and transparent than I remember the stock pedal being ... of course, it's been a while since I had an SD 1 on hand, so that could just be a strength of the pedal I've forgotten about. I agree with you about the toggle switch ~ I don't think it needs the extra treble/presence.

It's definitely a more aggressive sound than the Bad Monkey I'm using, not nearly as dark. As I said, it's got a nice open thing going on. I do dig the thick throaty quality of the Monkey for neck pickup single note lines probably a little bit better than the SD, but for jangly or edgy stuff, the SD is the winner, I think. :) And yeah, it's certainly a good match for the Marshall voicing. \m/

Going back to this, I'd REALLY love to have a JTM 45 combo one day.

Of course, I'm also kinda gassing for a JCM 800 combo ~ the two channel one with the diodes that "everybody" hates, lol!

I messed with it a whole 5 minutes on Monday, but due to the birth of my daughter that day, it hasn't seen much more. It took me a second or two to figure out how to work it, but it sounds really nice. The trails definitely have that lo-fi decay. Also, this thing is sexy!!! I love that metallic blue paint and the white hand drawn graphics!

I hope that I can get some more use out of it in the next couple of days, but I have a feeling that I won't get to :-q

There are some tired people in my house this week.

I ended up sending back the Tonerider delay for a refund. My amp and it just weren't getting along. I also ordered a Rocktron Celestial Delay [supposed to be analog] to try as well. If I don't like it, the VFE will probably get ordered!!!

Thanks again for letting me try it out. Are you still digging the SD-1?

Dude, congrats!!! Our 2nd daughter was just born Xmas day night, so she's barely 1 month old (which is one reason I haven't done much more with your pedal, yet, either, lol!!!). That's awesome ~ I take it other than being tired that everybody's good & healthy? :)

Yeah, I should've mentioned it takes a little tweaking to "figure out" the Blueprint. But I'm glad in that 5 minutes you were able to find a couple interesting sounds. Tbh, I've been thinking about selling mine, but when I plugged it in to make sure it worked before I sent it to you, I found myself thinking again... :hmm: :idk:

Feel free to keep it for a while & mess with it, especially since you'll have to do so in the brief spaces in between daddying; I certainly know how that goes!

Back to the SD1 .... again, I haven't had a whole lot more time with it since before .... at the moment, with the Plexi rig, I still find myself leaning a bit more towards the Bad Monkey. The Monkey's not as clear as the Boss, which is kind of a disadvantage, but that gives the feeling of a bit more thickness in the tone, especially for single note lines/solos ~ as a certified Lame Pseudo-shred WANKAR, that's of course where I spend most of my time. I wish I were still gigging with my band, though, because I'd love to compare these pedals A) at volume, and B) in a full band context, which is where I'm thinking the Boss would *really* shine. :rawk:

Thanks! It is amazing how fast your life changes when you bring a little one home. I am actually worried about when I will get to crank my Marshall again... Thank goodness for my Tweaker, it is a lot more quiet. Everyone is healthy! The little one likes to eat, and is pretty comfortable with nursing. Mom is still trying to get milk to come in.

Thanks again! You can check my Facebook page for some pics, if you are interested!

You *will* get to crank again, my brutha ... but I ain't gonna lie ~ it's harder than it was before. Takes teamwork with the partner/spouse/S.O., who needs to understand that playing = therapy/emotional health/anger management (when necessary), etc., and not just "wasting time." O' course, you have to spot her whatever she does for herself that meets those same needs, but that's just the nature of relationship, ya?

If your girl likes to eat right out of the gate, that's awesome, even better that she's pretty cool with nursing. Our second was that way, but our first had a real time learning how to latch ~ that was rough on *everybody*! Will check the pix ~ I'm a total sucker, now, for babies/kids. Never would've seen that coming years ago ~ didn't think I had it in me. :)

Also, Cole ~ these go for $175 new:

Thought you might be interested. There's a more expensive version with a headphone jack, but this one'll take your amp down to 5% (H), 3% (M), or 1% (L) power/volume for family friendly crankage. Mine's in the mail; will post when I get a chance to try it out. :D
