That would be New Job Possibility Out of the Blue.

So, I'm driving home from work, get a call, don't recognize the number. 9 times outta ten I'd let it go to voicemail because phones are evil outside of my job. I decide to answer it.

A guy says he got my name from my old boss (well, technically a couple bosses ago) and was wondering if I might be interested in applying for a parts managerial job.

I said yeah, I would be, what kinda details can you give me?

Its a 3 line dealership, Chevy, Nissan and Mercedes (there's a combo eh?). The guy who's retiring has been there for a long time, which, in the car biz I take as a good sign. In fact all 3 managers, sales, parts, and service, have been there for a long time. Benefits are better than what I currently am offered, as is the pay.

They're ideally looking for a hungry younger guy to come in and grow the business. Since I constantly bitch at my current job about how we AREN'T growing the business, its something I'd love to be a parts of. Talk is cheap though.

Downsides, its at the EXTREME end of commuting range so if I'd get the job and accept it, we'd have to move somewhere between wifey and I's jobs, which would mean farther from our families. I could do the commute for a few months, but long term? No way.

So, its not like I have the job or anything, still have the entire interview process to go through.

I'm fairly certain I won't get it, just due to my lack of managerial experience, but it still felt good that a guy I hadn't worked for in 3 years at this point thought of me when a friend of him asked if he knew of any potential managers.

1- at what point abbreviations get a bit ridiculous? NJPOOTB?? Really?????

2- Good luck man, hope it works out!!! Always a good sign to replace someone who's been there for a long time, until retirement. Says something about the company, IMHO.

3- please consult with your cats before making any final decisions!!

I had no idea how to title a thread based on a potential job opportunity so I figured a bizarre abbreviation would be most effective.

I hope it works out too. It'd be a fun, crazy challenge.

That's what I figure to neil. I'm normally the type to not even try and and then wonder. At least this way, I'll have gone for it, and if I don't get it this time, I at least have people who are willing to put my name out there.

Thanks!

What diesel? Is it for that old medium duty of yours? If so....can't help you there. :(

But thanks for the support!

Good Luck! I had something similar happen about 6 months ago...Didn't think I was gonna get it, then BAM - get the call, better pay, decent benefits and it is literally right around the corner from where I live. If I wasn't such a lazy fuck I could easily walk to work, or at least bike it...Pulling for ya.

Happy blowjob day!

Oh wait, that was meant for me. My wife said it tasted like whiskey :freak:

Unnmmmmm. Commuting sucks but take the job. It will be awesome. Managing adults is so fun, it's like baby sitting old people.

Pretty much what I read.

I don't really know if anyone here other than you and I understand the true significance of this one statement.

Do it, mang. Best of luck, I hope you get it. :thu:
