Damn this is hard - I had about 4 lineups that were going toward different genres/etc.

Screw it here's my all around metal one

Akerfeldt - Guitar, Vocals
Petrucci - Guitar
Cliff Burton - Bass
Gene Hoglan - Drums

If we can throw a second one in I will

Added a second one

Paul Rodgers - Vocals
Clapton - Vocals/Guitar
Paul Kossoff - Guitars
Jon Lord - Keyboards
John Paul Jones - Bass
John Bohnam - Drums

Is the a dream band that you just want to see, or that you want to play in?

Cause John Paul Jones + Dave Grohl is pretty much my ideal rhythm section. I could handle Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce too, but I'd want the younger version of themselves, when they still had fire. I'll take SRV's old keyboard player while I'm at it.

Nice call. Hendrix, Claypool, and Wright would need a solid guy who underplays.

Man, that's a tough one. I'd have a few lineups depending on what was being played I think...

For an all around band I would go with:

Petrucci - lead guitar
Portnoy - drums
Ryan Martinie - slappin' da baess
Angelo Moore - vocals, yells, screams and madness

Sort of a toss up...As an alternate on vox I would prob go with a young Geoff Tate...

Also, if there were a rhythm guitar player it would be, well, me...If I am going to pick a Dream Band then I am tossing my name into the mix for shits and giggles...Besides, it would be a Dream to play with any of these guys.
Guitars: Early 90's Ibanez EX Series, Late 80's B.C. Rich Mockingbird, Fairly new Epiphone LP Custom
Amp: JCA22H with 4x12 Ibanez Cab
No pedals or any real skills...

.
Vocals - a young Steve Walsh
Guitar - Steve Vai - (but I wouldn't let him write songs :) )
Guitar - Me - (hanging on by my fingernails)
Bass - Gail Ann Dorsey - (plays what is in my head)
Keys - -Richard Wright - (best 'glue man' in the business, RIP)
Drums - Darren King - (guaranteed to shake up a rhythm section)

In Way Over My Head band :

Sax - Branford Marsalis
Trumpet - Arturo Sandoval
Keys - Bill Payne
Bass - Me (me ? Holy $#!7 )
Drums - Akira Jimbo or Omar Hakim

Every day a musical asskicking. What a priviledge it would be, too.
