Well I changed out the stock Gibson Britewires on my 2013 SG Standard last night for a set of Ernie Ball Classic Rock Nickle strings......same gauge...10's.
BUT.
The Ernie Balls have noticibly more tension and the weird part is now bending feels a lot different...it feels as if the string is sticking to the frets....?Nickle on Nickle?
I am bummed out as I have like 12 sets of EB left.
I'll buy em off of you if you don't want them. PM me if you're interested.
Shit that I own: Amps: Mesa Mark III Red Stripe; Peavey 5150; Peavey VTM 60; Budda SD18; Dr. Z Carmen Ghia; Boss Katana; Mesa 400+; Darkglass Microtubes 900; Genx-Benz G-Flex; Marshall 4x12 w/Greenbacks; Peavey 4x12 w/G12K-85's Guitars/Basses: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro; Gibson Les Paul Studio; Ibanez Prestige RGA121; Balaguer Hyperion; Schecter Custom Shop Traditional; Schecter C-1 Platinum; Homebrew Tele; Composit Acoustics GXi; Warwick FNA; Peavey Cirrus 5; Rickenbacker 4003
I will give some thought to selling them off...I have them on my start and Heritage with good results.....the SG just feels weird....ALTHOUGH, the fretboard feels very, very smooth so I think the WAX they put on the fretboard might have something to do with this....guess I'll have to play it for a few hours and see what happens.
not gonna lie, i have never once put on strings by a different brand and thought they felt any different than any other string of the same make and gauge.

The tension is noticibly higher with the EB. Might be difference in string material?

idk, maybe. do you cut them the same length and whatnot?

I wrapped way more string on the post than Gibson did. But since the distance from the post to bridge doesn't change I do not see that as the issue
