He posted some vids up on FB of the cops going all draconian on folks who were obviously peacefully camped in a field. Drawing on one lady simply because she wouldn't put down her camera phone etc.

Then FB starts removing some of the videos.

Share images, videos, and stories about what's going on, and encourage others to hold the authorities accountable. Most importantly, join in with those actively opposing these things, in person if you can, or at least by adding your voice.

Now, how much of a difference all that will likely make given the state of our democracy and overall citizen apathy, well... perhaps best not to get ones hopes up. But the alternative is do nothing and give up entirely, which is what they're counting on us to do.

I'm not bitching, I'm doing what I can at this point, which is getting the word out because evidently, media in Canuckland isn't covering it much. Several of my buddies we served with who live on the east coast are exploring their options. One owns a private security firm (not the rent-a-cop type) and he may just get involved on behalf of the tribe. I'm about 3000 miles away so my options are somewhat limited.

FWIW, my best friend is a conservative, devout christian. I'm a fairly liberal agnostic. How is it we're best friends? Well, he's brilliant, holds degrees in Nuclear and software engineering and as such, typically falls into the category of conservatives I like to call "Conservatives with a brain" most of whom I enjoy being around. These are people who don't have a kneejerk ideological reaction to new ideas. They don't automatically discount something till they've explored it and researched it. We can have amazing discussions and occasionally change minds.

Then there's the other conservatives. The ones who simply parrot what they've been told on Faux News or Talk Radio. I like to call these guys "Conservatives without brains" and frankly I'd rather get boned with a giant strap-on than be forced to listen to their tripe for more than a few minutes. Unfortunately, almost all the "Conservatives" I bump into immediately start parroting the latest Rush Limbaugh or Hannity talking points so I pretty much know exactly what I'm dealing with.

I'd probably deal with you better if you didn't come across as the latter.

Given my activities in, hmmmm, similar, protests, apathy is the number one enemy. A very close second is the media burying the story. If they don't cover it, nobody can even be given a chance to respond apathetically. It's an old, well tested trick. Make sure you've got people assigned to video the event from a discreet distance. Make sure that people carry hidden recording devices. Make sure that you get officer names and badge numbers. Co-op other groups for support. Pass it on.
