NHL--2013/2014 Season thread

Post by JimmyPaeg »

Looks like the preseason is starting to heat up a little a bit. Kassian suspended, Bissonette suspended, Clarkson suspended, hell, even Phil Kessel might get suspended.

Who's gonna be good this year?

Who's going to be bad?

Who's going to lead the lead in scoring?

Who's going to win the major awards?

Oh, and this pic is just too good not to post.

New thread!

Should be a fun season, i see some rivalries heating up, some teams adding some muscle but i HATE the fucking new helmet removal rule during a fight, (So stupid) just another way the league is trying to legislate toughness out of the game along with the visor rule!

Did the snore wings move to the east? The Islanders hopefully have some momentum for the upcoming season and also hoping the season is fun and intense (fingers crossed!) and that pic is actually cool

I'm hoping my Caps can actually make it past the second round this year, assuming we make it to the playoffs. It should be a little tougher in the new division. With Grobovski's signing there is some decent forward depth. In goal think Holtby will be great this year. I'm worried about the defense though.

I can't wait for the season to start.

I'm interested to see how the Penguins' lines end up. Lately, they've been playing Jussi Jokinen on the line with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal, and I feel like that line could have a lot of promise. I'm sad to see Iginla and Morrow gone, but to be fair, they didn't use Iginla properly. I just wish they could've afforded to resign Morrow (Letang was paid a bit too much in my opinion). Not only would he have been nice to keep on the third line, but I feel like he could've been a good mentor to Joe Vitale and helped develop Vitale into the type of player he is

Just a thought, are there enough of us hockey fans to have a GAB fantasy pool? Anyone have any experience with running one?

I'm going to be in one this year, but it will be my first time. I have no idea how to run it. I know the dude running it is using yahoo fantasy sports and they pretty much take care of most of the details.

I have one I'm in we still need to set up a draft day for this year... it's a freaking nightmare. 23 round snake draft, full salary cap, Minimum 4LW,4C,4RW,6D, 2 goalies. Every year it's a friggin ordeal, especially those last few rounds when you have no money left and have to grab friggin ECHL players haha.

The Wings and the Blue Jackets moved to the Eastern Conference. Winnipeg moved to the West conference.

I'm definitely excited. I don't have high hopes for the Pirates and the Steelers suck, so the Pens are my only hope. Need to get off my ass and buy Center Ice. Last year was the first time I got it and I don't think I can live without it.

Hey guys, remember that even if you don't sign up for Center Ice, you usually get the first two weeks for free depending on your provider.

Fuckin' Leafers

My nightmare draft got cancelled for this year. Kinda pumped because I wasn't prepared at all for it, and also because I got second place last year (well two years ago now) so the commish is paying me my winnings. :hi5:

Big win last night for my Leafs. Shame that Parros got hurt like that, but that's hockey.

It sucks that the caps lost last night, but there were some positives. Ovechkin, Backstrom and Green looked strong, the powerplay was great and Grobovski is a beast. Hopefully the defense situation gets figured out.

Grabbo is a very talented offensive player, I was sorry to see him go. Not the most consistent dude, but when he's on (and with linemates with whom he's got chemistry) he can really produce. I could see him fitting in well with the Caps.

When they were introducing the Leafs at the home opener tonight and they were playing that mix of the breakdown/solo from One at first I was like :rawk: then after a couple of minutes I was like  and by the time they played the solo for like the 8th time I was like

I guess we'll see if that's this years theme song for when the Leafs take the ice. I still think The Beautiful People was the best one they had.

Whoever edited that clip together did a real pig's ear of it. The loop should have been much longer.

Still, I'm just glad they got the win. That was a pretty tough game for Reimer. We were lucky Bernier could come in and shut the door like that. It's not often you see a goalie get pulled and then the team comes back to win.

No idea how the Leafs keep winning playing the way we have been, but shit, I'll take it!
