Battletech/ Mechwarrior

Post by Cirrus »

Inspired by Youngblood's thread, anyone here who was/ is into the battletech universe? I loved it as a kid, owned all the computer games, read the books, watched the animated series...

I was cool back then.

What's happened to it? I always thought it'd make a great universe for movies.

Oh, and the music for Mechwarrior 2 is definitely the best videogame soundtrack.

I had a friend who was really into it and he had everything related to it as well. He got me into playing the Collectible Card Game. I think I still have the cards around somewhere.

I played the shit out of the original tabletop Battletech game. I was already out of it by the time the computer games were around.

i always dug the idea, but never got into anything but a cursory involvement in the video games.

and the motif returned in my love for MGS and armored core, but thats about it.

Loved that game, a great simulation. Did that genre die off or something?

I played a ton of the Mechwarrior game for SNES. I always wanted to get into battletech, but never had the chance. I have all the corebooks somewhere...

I played one of the PC games as well, but it wasn't as good the SNES one.

I also have a old I think PC game where its mostly in badly translated Japanese. Its awesome, but really hard to play on my laptop. Mostly because I have no coordination to speak of.

So, yeah, I love giant robot games, I just never got to play them as much as I wanted.

I did catch it last night before I headed to bed! I was too zonked on cold medicine to comment at the time.

It looked sweet! I know you said you aren't really a comic artist or whatever, but that was an awesome looking mech.

Me, I struggle to draw stick people so people that can actually draw cool stuff make me jealous.

Nice work dude! :thu:

Look at what I just put up on eBay today!

Image

Man, I have loved Mechwarrior since it's original version, called BattleMechs. It was a minis game that came with two snap together plastic 'mechs: one Shadow Hawk and one Griffin. I have played every version of the computer games AND the collectible card game, too. I even once interview the designer, Jordan Weiseman, when I worked for About.com. Oh, I also interviewed for a job at WizKids, the company Weiseman founded after the ran his original company (FASA) into the ground (he recently ran WizKids into the ground, too).

MegaNerd for the win!

Damn dude. That's awesome!

Wizkids got run into the ground? I knew Ha$bro had it and they're sort of notorious for allowing awesome things to die because of inept management...
