What are the stats?

and to be honest, my phone has more of a chance of me being distracted by it causing me to run head on into an oncoming vehicle and kill a familly than my pistol has of being used for anything other than putting holes in paper. although both are very slim.
it illustrates the point that guns dont shoot by themselves. and, as stated, most people who choose to operate, respect and keep them, as tools for a potential situation and for fun at the range in the meantime do just that. its the people who buy them with the intent of hurting someone that generally tend to.
if i call a hitman and put a hit on someone, who is the killer: me, the phone, the hitter, or the weapon?

Opinions won't be changed, since we're all too old and set in our ways. No 9 year old is posting here. A gun is not a phone though, so it's fucking hilarious to compare them. That comparison always comes up by some people This shit's been argued for many years, and like I said, opinions don't change. I will say though, that I'm not from Texas, and I'm not a farmer, and I'm not YoungBlood. Cool for ya'll to agree though, nice when that happens
opinions do change. through experience. all the time. so we have to keep it up to some extent so that everyone doesn't just turn canadian all of a sudden. but you're right. there will be no epiphanies here.
and a gun is not a phone. call the president. cancel all analogies. suspend all metaphors. i do not want to hear things likened to things due to their respective relationships until further notice! these things are not those things. make that clear in the press release. i get confused when some people say things are other things when really they are things, and not things of the other kind of thing.

Yeah, 'shoot in the general direction' is how it's done.......
That's what tends to happen because people panic. And yes, because my opinion differs from yours, I "don't understand guns"
Oh, so you are one of the people that believe that guns are so inherantly dangerous that no one can hope to master, or use them in a competent manner?
You dont have to understand, like , or even own guns really but in the US we have the choice to do so. Im apparently a nutjob for carrying my Ruger Blackhawk into the woods as well.
Also to be totally clear a guns sole purpose is to contain an explosion to propel a mass of metal in a singular direction, it doesnt "deal death". Its a tool because this contained explosion can be used for a wide variety of purposes and not limited just killing,it just happens to be damn effective at that.
Yeap, they're great for opening doors & cans of tuna too.
I find it interesting that the people who say guns are not just for killing are the same people who normally tell you you don't aim to injure, you aim to kill.
Thats not my point, really. I dont really like the sensationalism of statements like "deal death", its just sort of.....lame
Technically you aim to stop, not necessarily kill in a defence sort of situation but death is a fairly effective way to stop an attack.
The saying you are thinking of is that you never use a gun to injure or threaten, if you use a gun you must be prepared to kill anything that you are aiming it at, never mistake the gravity that comes in a guns use.
Rule number one when using a gun in a situation - never ever under any circumstances pull a gun to threaten anyone. It is a incredibly stupid thing to do. This is not a TV show or movie. If you pull a gun shoot it & only do that with confidence & control. If you can not do this you really should consider not having a gun.
The fact that Stephen appears from nowhere, is sentenced to death in an emotional public trial without anyone interfering at all and is then altogether forgotten as if nothing happened, is already suspicious.

To be fair that has a lot more to do with Florida's horrible economic, educational, and social welfare policies than it does with it's gun policies. Yet, fittingly all of the above are championed and enacted by Florida's right wing state legislators and county governments who blame the state's decline on the opposing party that hasn't been in power in the state for about two decades.
There is two subjects I could complete care less about - politics & religion. As far as I am concerned there is really very little difference between the "left & right". Both are pretty much useless to me.

It's a tough decision to carry a firearm because as stated above, you really have to be comfortable with the idea of possibly taking a life and that issue directly correlates with the percentage I carry a firearm.
Most of my firearm carrying is if I'm venturing out late at night (11pm-4am), which is almost never unless we are playing catch up.
Oddly enough, when I'm alone, I hardly carry just because I figure I can see a conflict coming and I can actually run pretty fast. Which is really my defense- run as fast as I can.
My fiancé is another story, I can't just throw a punch and sprint away as I'm faster than her. In that case my worry skyrockets when she's with me.
If GZ didn't have a gun and think he's the popo, he wouldn't have gotten himself in that situation in the first place. The whole thing never would have happened if GZ didn't have a gun he didn't need.
Why do you feel he didnt need it? Its sort of obvious he needed it to defend himself.
I bolded the hypothesis
Wasnt he a member of the neighborhood watch? Doesnt their duties include......watching the neighborhood?
Yep. Watching the neighborhood. Not enforcing the laws. The name itself says it. Watch. That's what he should have been doing. If he sees anything, he calls the police and they deal with it. He's not there to bust the guy. That's the cops job.
The ONLY people that need a gun are law enforcement. Having a gun in your home is fine, though it's not something I would do as it's more likely to cause an accident than protect you. Anyone who carry's a gun with them out of their house enters the realm of total nutjob.
From what I understand, GZ actually lost site of TM. TM actually came back and attacked GZ. (All this is hearsay so I don't know if it is true or not) Either way, in the US there is a thing called citizens' arrest (not that I would attempt it or that GZ should have).
And why are you lumping everyone that carries a gun outside the home a nut job? Is it because you are Canadian? Do you guys not hunt? Do you guys not go to practice ranges? My wife used to carry a gun in her car when she traveled back and forth on a 3 1/2 hour drive that didn't have any big cities? Does that make her a nut job? I don't personally own any guns, but my wife has one (obviously). You know us South US 'Mericans are a bunch of nut jobs that love our guns and our religion
I'm not talking about people that go hunting or are bringing the gun to the range. I'm talking about nutjobs that carry the gun on them in a holster just for leaving the house. Those guys are so nuts, they actually scare me more than the criminals. The mentality of fear and paranoia that would cause someone to do that is mind blowing.
I know quite a few people that carry guns with them. Generally good people who want to be prepared. Some of those people would probably consider you naive (considering the current state of the world).
Personally I think that the risk is too great to have guns around all the time (I have kids), so I don't carry.
The people that legally carry are not really the problem. It's the people that illegally carry that are the problem.
I'm sorry, but your friends are nutjobs. I would look into getting them the psychological help they clearly need.
