If GZ didn't have a gun and think he's the popo, he wouldn't have gotten himself in that situation in the first place. The whole thing never would have happened if GZ didn't have a gun he didn't need.
Why do you feel he didnt need it? Its sort of obvious he needed it to defend himself.

Wasnt he a member of the neighborhood watch? Doesnt their duties include......watching the neighborhood?

Less chance of anyone dying when there isn't a gun. Some numbskulls don't understand this...sometimes they retort with extreme comparisons.
Killing is killing - it really does not matter how it is done. The reason Zimmerman won this case was it was shown he had reasonable cause to believe his life was in danger.
The fact that Stephen appears from nowhere, is sentenced to death in an emotional public trial without anyone interfering at all and is then altogether forgotten as if nothing happened, is already suspicious.

Even though the outcome was the worst thing possible, Mr Z. broke no laws if he had he would have gone to jail. In Florida, Texas and some other states, if you attack another citizen he (or she) just might be carrying a firearm. People have nothing to fear if they don't attack law abiding citizens.
This is very true, an armed society is a polite society.
I'm sure Martin and Zimmerman were very polite as they fought oneanother.

jimmy paeg, you're losing many online-intelligence-reputation points with these nonsensical retorts, my man. the word, nor concept of "polite" was used in the quoted post. at least debate logically. you're starting to sound like my gf.

"GZ would have never followed him without a gun" (personally I think he would have since he was doing a job....still an assumption) "If GZ didn't have a gun, it would have only been a fist fight" (these guys forget the fact that TM was using the pavement as a weapon)
There is even one guy calling everybody that doesn't agree with him a redneck. (Nothing against the guy but I probably have more education than he does)
We can all say what we think would have happened, but we don't know. Even the "this is what I would have done" statements are just assumptions. You never know what you would have done if you were in the same situation until you are actually in that situation. We are just playing armchair QB. We'll never agree and none of us know what really happened.
I think we can all agree that the US media and government has a culture of dividing the people along different lines (race, religion, creed, political, etc. etc.). And it needs to stop

If I'm confronting some punk-ass kid (notice - no race involved) in my neighborhood - wondering what he is up to - I damn sure would rather have a gun than not.
There is no use arguing with these namby-pamby gun hating liberals - you aren't going to convince them of your right to bear legal arms.

For someone that uses the word assumption quite a bit you sure make a lot of assumptions! And yes, rednecks love guns...I have never met a redneck that didn't love guns, and I'm a New Yorker transplanted into South Carolina. The comment I made was pretty much: 2 guys enter with guns, people die; 2 guys enter without guns, less chance they die. Argue against it all you want, but it's been argued countless times before.
In the end though, I really mean no disrespect to any respectable posters.

I wasn't making an assumption that time. Your words clearly state what you mean there.

JimmyPaeg wrote:I think the bigger issue here is that he murdered someone and got away with it because of an ass-backwards law that condones such acts.
Whatever actually happened, that Zimmerman killed him in cold blood was never in doubt. If Florida didn't have such obscene laws regarding the use of deadly force than this would have ended completely differently.
Furthermore, Zimmerman doesn't have a gun, they both end up with bloody lips and go home and none of this ever comes to the media's attention.
My only hope is that this soap opera is a catalyst for change that will force people to reexamine the place of legislation in terms of regulating violence.
What law? Stand Your Ground? Open your eyes Stevie Wonder. It wasn't even invoked in this case.
Goddamm you're an idiot.
But wtf else do you have to do up there besides feed off the US news media's scraps? I guess hang out with Mike Holmes n' shit and fix drywall. But otherwise, sucks.

Gangbangers have a similar proclivity towards firearms as rednecks. At least the latter usually obtain them legally (I do). Even though I am he sans neck of red.

That is why I said probably. I have more education than most people in this world, which doesn't make me any better than anyone else. It's not necessarily a good thing either and I often say that anybody can do what I do if they put in the effort. Just for a little background: I have an Associate's Degree in Computer Technology (Networking specialty) and plenty of Certifications to go with it; I have a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry; Also have a General Studies Bachelor's degree; And finally, in less than a year I will be a Doctor of Pharmacy. So you can call me Doctor, lol

What that has to do with this Zimmerman case, I have no idea.
I guess the current assumpion is that Zimmerman was a Hispanic redneck for some reason This whole thread seems to be going in circles and is making less and less sense.
At some point the people posting all the hostility are going to have to "agree to disagree" because nobody is going to conceed anything. It's time to give this a rest and move on.
Well in a few days the royal baby will be born and the media will move on so this case won't last much longer lol
