That said, I think the secret to great bass tone is to listen to the guitar tones. I try to wrap myself around the rhythm guitar and will scoop mids until I can hear them cut through me clearly with no mud. I’ll own the low end and boost my upper mids until I cut through somewhere around 2.3k, then can set how far forward or back I am in the mix with the mid boost on my bass.
Anyway… how about that Bryan Adams guy?

I find explaining to the guitarist that I’m trying to reinforce and make the rhythm guitar sound huge reduces the fight over relinquishing their low end.
And if that fails I point out that I have 300w tube amp and will bury them.
