Any Craft Beer Guys?

Post by facefirst »

Don’t get me wrong, I like pounding cheap beer. Nothing against it. That said, I also dig craft beers. I actually usually don’t drink much beer at all. Instead I opt for gin or whiskey/bourbon.

I just got back from a weeklong trip through New England and went to a bunch of breweries so I had to bring back a bunch of stuff. It actually renewed my love of craft beer. Got some pretty great stuff from The Alchemist, Lawson’s and Treehouse, to name a few. I probably went a bit overboard but oh well.

So anyways, who else is into craft beer?

Damn, nice haul!

Haven’t heard of those brands.

My current favorites are all Belgian or derivatives there of.

Absolute fave is St Bernardus ABT 12.

2 other more common(here) and less expensive faves are Victory Golden Monkey and Miami Brewing Tourist Trappe.

I likes them Belgian 9-10%ers

One of my favorite activities is going on a beer tour. I love craft beer, and craft breweries. I’m absolutely jealous of the Heady Topper. I don’t have anything interesting to show you, but I will be going to the liquor store tomorrow. No big haul, but enough to keep me going for a while. Bear in mind that I am also a homebrewer, and I also make mead. I have a lot of both, and mead is a double digit ABV beverage, so I don’t need a huge beer run.

Seattle used to be craft beer ground zero and we still have some great ones. Basically, if I'm drinking beer it has to something really good to justify the calories. We have some awesome craft distilleries so I tend to go for bourbon or rye.

I’m a fan of Tripels. St. Bernard us is a great Belgian. Golden Monkey is super solid too.

I brought back a lot of Heady Topper and Focal Banger. I was lucky enough to score a four pack of their Crusher IPA, which might be my favorite of the three.

My buddy home brews. I don’t have the patience for some reason. Plus the times I’ve brewed beer it just came out ok.

I’d like to get up to the northwest and do some brewery tours. One day..

I’m also into bourbon and rye a lot. Bulliet is my go to drinker but I’m also into Weller a lot.

Love Bullies bourbon but thier rye is kind of bland. Look for Woodinville if you can find it. Distilled about 5 minutes from my house.

Do they distribute nationally? I’m in Cleveland.

Just did a search and looks like it is available at Dave's and a few other places.

You need to hire AOC for a bartender

Pittsburgh has a pretty great craft beer scene. There are at least 12 breweries within a 3-mile radius of my apartment. I'm not much of an IPA drinker, but my favorite styles are fruited sours and milk stouts.

My favorite brewery is Four Hands in St. Louis. My fiancée is from there, so she introduced me to them before the pandemic. They have a really great seasonal chocolate milk stout (just named "Chocolate Milk Stout") that they do different variations on. Their peanut butter version is called Absence of Light, which may be my favorite beer.

Another one I discovered lately that gives AoL a run for its money is Gunner's Daughter from Mast Landing Brewing in Maine.

That's a nice home bar setup from what I can see. Cool!

I also love Bulleit. I spend all of my home bar money on whiskys. I'm total trash with my beer though. I have Miller Lite on tap. :)

Especially offensive since I am from MI originally, which is one of the craft beer Mecca states.

I'm not much into the overly hopped beers like IPA myself which is unfortunate because that it is what everyone around her is brewing. I much prefer hefeweizen and amber or go the other direction with heavy stout.

Thanks. I built the bar a few years back. Has a bowling alley top.
Every few years I go to MI to hit up breweries. It's awesome there.
