so our old house closes in a week. inspections are clear, appraisal went fine, their loan is approved; closing is actually scheduled for next friday. i sacrificed a lot to buy and maintain it for the last 10 years so i think its only right i get a guitar from the proceeds.

problem is i have had my eye on a dream guitar for a couple of weeks now and the seller keeps dropping the price. i really don't want it to sell before our house closes but i also really don't want to buy it now and then for some crazy reason they back out or die or the house falls into a sinkhole or whatever.

would you do the responsible thing and wait till you actually had the money or fly by the seat of your pants and buy it now? the guitar has some slight mods which i actually like but i think is what is preventing a sale because i haven't seen any others not sell in this price range.

:idk:

I can delineate a rational means to explain why you should just buy it but let's cut out the middle man. You know what to do...

If the dream guitar is a really good price then I'd buy it. If your house sells as planned, you can keep it. If not, and the dream guitar lives up, sell off some other gear. If it doesn't live up and you really got it for a good price then flip it.

We talked about it via PM the other day.. ask him if you can hit Buy It Now and pay for it in a week. It will be fine.

If for some tragedy the house don't close in the last week of escrow, which is pretty fucking rare at this point of the game, then talk to him explain what happened and maybe gift him $20-40 for his trouble.

Dude, nothing bad is going to happen here. The guy will either get paid in a week or get a little money for trying to work with you.

Communicate with him. Amazing things happen when people talk to each other. Chances are he will be ok with it either way. I certainly would.

Ask yourself this: Will this axe sell within a week? If not, wait until the check clears.

Regale the seller with lots of personal details and rationalizations. He will be so entertained and amused with your situation, he might just offer you a huge discount.

What ever happened to ho's & coke coming first???

Yeah, try to work it out with the seller...If he's an ass, the guitar probably has hidden issues like a frozen truss rod (ask me how I know). If he's a decent guy, you get to believe the ad, and feel better about getting the guitar.

Right here it is.....

Now remember you only live once so why would you even ask such a ludicrous question of the Den of scum? Debt is the American way. You damn well know I buy everything I want and I don't give a rats ass how I pay for it. Nothing shall keep me from the gear hoarding poor ass no money in the bank happy to come home to all my shit after work every night guy there ever was. Shit can I borrow $50 when the house sells?

if you don't have enough saved up to buy a guitar right now, then don't. i'm assuming you're not looking at some $40k+ guitar.

if you're getting a new house, you're gonna get hit with all kinds of expenses there to get it how you want it and/or repairs and maintenance.

i may be on the practical side, but i'm also at zero debt.

The responsible part of me says just wait....if it is meant to be, it’s meant to be.

The gear whore in me says screw it.....buy the damn thing.
