So I finally got off my ass and recorded the MT15. Problem is that when I wanted to record my cat was sleeping in his cat tree about 6 feet from the cab. I didn't want to disturb him so I had the amp lower than I've ever recorded an amp before. I like the tone I got but I will say the amp sounds even better with more volume behind it. Anyways, I decided to use my First Act with a Sheptone Tribute and tuned to Drop C instead of my normal lower tuning and First Act or Ebay pickups. I had the gain at 11 O'clock on the amp. The cleanish part is just the volume rolled back. One left and one right track raw. No eq, filters or anything.

Speaker 1.

Speaker 2. All control exactly the same. Tried to get the mic a the same location on the speaker.

And............. one more. Used my Teisco with a 16k humbucker. It's my darkest sounding guitar. Tuned to B and I lowered the gain and the bass on the amp.

Super happy with the amp. Tons of balls to this little thing.

It does sound great. And consistent as well (meaning other people make it sound great almost in all clips). That means thorough work from the designers/artist.

Tell me do you use new strings or slightly dulled when you record?

Excellent recording and even more impressive considering the low volume.

Whatever happens to be on the guitar. The guitar I used in this particular clip has strings that are about 2-3 months old. I usually put a piece of blue painters tape on the back of the guitar and write down the date, brand and gauge of the stings so I know. Must have just been lazy or forgot this time though.

Very Recto sounding, (to me). Sounds pretty good! Interesting little amp! How's the volume taper?

Kinda reminds me of the 50 watt Splawn Competition I had a few years ago. It gets loud fast. I had the lead master at about 8 O'clcok for this clip. Not loud at all. By the time you get just past 9 O'clock you're at drummer level. It still gets louder up to noon but not as drastically. I haven't taken it past Noon yet.

I briefly ran my pedal board through the clean channel. I have a AMT RT and two different boosts as my main tone as well as a MXR SubMachine for fuzz. It sounded great. I just roll down the treble a bit and it's good. Definitely one of the things I liked about my 50 watt Archon was that the clean channel was great for pedals. Same here.

Thanks guys. Really diggin the amp. Next time I record it I'll have more volume to it and see how comes out. I also might use my other cab with the JSX speakers for a bit more grit.

That's an amazingly tight sounding amp.

You made that amp sound very credible .

Killer metal riffage.

Recorded the same clip with a different speaker. Everything was exactly the same. Well, I was a bit sloppier than normal.

They both sound good, the new speaker sounds a bit darker and more "evil", the first one has more upper mids/sizzle/more cutting? Those speakers would probably work well mixed/blended together!
That amp is impressive, sounds like a 100 W 6L6 amp to me

I've never been much of a Tremonti fan but he and PRS killed it with this little amp.

Really liking the second clip.

Original clip is a Peavey Sheffield 1200. New clip is a V30. The amp was specifically designed to be paired with V30’s so they say. In the room is sounds pretty killer with all the speakers I have.
