Dig this but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about spending this kind of coin on an up and coming brand/builder because of resale value if I didn't totally gel with it (plus I might be the only one that likes that config  ).

I don’t have the coin yet (still selling some other gear) so I have time to think about this, a Growler or an Explorer. A used Explorer is currently my safest bet but I’ve never been all that safe so... Man I dig this though.

I ordered a "semi-custom" (I put that in quotes because I consider it completely custom - Joe had no problem entertaining my wacky ideas) instrument from Joe that cost me over $1,500 without ever having played one of his guitars before, based entirely on his reputation and word of mouth from players here that I totally respect. Also, just speaking with Joe personally really sold me. What a great guy!

I'd be lying if I said the wait wasn't killing me though  this is my first custom guitar order, ever.

Joe, still waiting for you to PM me some preview pics ;)

Dude get on the editor and mock it up as close as you can! I wanna see what you picked!

The blue tele at the top.

That is just classy.

The pink and surf green Lester types...

Pretty damn nice.

So it took me a few to get down to doing this. Not sure if I went too far with the binding or purple led fretlights

A) You can never go too far, and B) with a guitar like that, you cannot apologize for it ~ gotta go all out. :D

At first I thought, cool another dude ripping on Fenders and Gibsons....but taking a look.

Its all pretty original designs inspired by iconic guitars and its a nice change from the same old shit we have all had since the 50s.

Good stuff.

:hi5: :rawk:  I must make this happen. The black one reminds me of something Glenn Tipton would play. Like an old Hamer.

I am VERY close to ordering semi-custom Archetype.

I’ll probably put in a call with a few questions, but I’ll post them here too:

What is typical wait time?

I only want one volume knob....no tone. Is that possible?

Can you get Jumbo frets?

Since my dream guitar has been a tremonti PRS for a while now, I figured I'd do that style in Balaguer form. Not sure if I'd go FR or trad trem bridge on it. The trem arm on the mockup just looks way to long to me, maybe I'm just miscalculating where it should be in my head. Otherwise, my goal next year is to convince the wife I need this guitar.

Has anyone compared the Comfy C with the Thin D? I am thinking the Thin D is the way to go, where I love the thinness of my Jackson necks.

I’m glad everyone is digging this. Was a very long and tedious process but the end product really turned out nice. Was great working with Joe.

4-6 months but we're trying to get that down. Yep we can do that, just pick the normal configuration and just let us know in the order notes what you want. We only use medium-jumbo right now for our Semi-Custom stuff.

I spent a few hours (yes, hours  ) playing on this thing today. I really want a Balaguer but won't be able to buy one if I lose my job for wasting working hours on their online builder. So that's a bit of a dilemma.

The dots do look good on the red one!

Still, I really like block inlays.... maybe in cream, to match the cream on the headstock?

Anyone have a pic of the back of the headstock/neck?

I think I’m about to pull the trigger on the Black one I mocked up :freak:

Given that I live in West Chester, I’m going to see if in person pick up is possible to avoid shipping....

If that’s what you want I’d keep an eye out for the production runs. They’ll be less expensive than a semi custom and from the looks of your design the specs will be right

There was one they did awhile back that was close that I considered, but I’d rather spend a little more to get exactly what I want. Though I’d like the inlays to extend beyond the 19th fret

If you look on my neck they do.

:thu:

I guess that's just a bug with the on-line builder in that the inlays don't update when you change the number of frets.

I selected "In Stock", used the dropdown menu to select a green Growler, and it's out of stock.

No big deal, just reporting the new naming system is a little confusing.

Joe has mentioned that there are some site changes happening. The In-Stock section used to be the "Production Series" section. Still made to order but with set spec's. He will be moving to select model runs being ready to ship soon.

cool. Whatever naming system he settles on is bound to be better than Fender and their "classic series" "classic player" "player" variations.
