Just want to say that I really dig it as a fretboard wood. It feels like a perfect middle ground between rosewood and ebony. It's snappier than rosewood. But a whole lot mellower than ebony. In terms of feel, my fingers tell me it's a bit harder than rosewood. NOBODY told me it reminds him of Brazillian rosewood.

Also, it's sooooo damn pretty.

If you are shopping a guitar with it, don't hesitate. It's awesome.

If you are shipping a guitar with it, DO hesitate. It's listed.

I've got a few necks I'm building with it as fretboard wood now.

Even considering doing a single piece all cocobolo neck, since I have a blank that's suitable for it

It is actually a true Rosewood species, and does sorta give off that old Brazilian rosewood feel. Which to me was always a slight bit more waxy feeling than Indian rosewood. Cocobolo definitely has more oil to it which ends up getting that waxy feel

Yeah my neck definitely felt waxy but played amazingly well.

Only if shipping internationally. Then you have to pay a small fee and fill out some forms to prove where it came from/where you bought it.

So, I hear.. haven't ever played one. I've never even used it for fretboard until my local supplier rolled out a pretty nice selection recently. And I picked up a few boards. I'm able to get 6 fretboard blanks and a piece big enough for a 1 piece build if I decide too. I'll be set for awhile. Unless it becomes my favorite fretboard!

Honestly, I just like saying Cocobolo more than how it plays or looks.

Never tried it on a guitar, but loved it on grips of the 1911 I used to own :D

It really is a beautiful wood though!

That looks like a Cort Curbow, Fretless. Probably not a respected brand in the mind of bassists; but my old bassist had a fretless Curbow (how's that for switching up the sentence) and it was amazing. Played killer and sounded awesome.

Curbows are fantastic r.i.p. Greg. But the corts are meh. That bass is Carl Thompson clone though hommie
