About 6:00pm, I finished the last of an old bottle of Japanese Plumb Wine.
At 7:00PM, I ordered a Modelo Especial to go with my Carne Asada at Mexico Pocito.
At 8:00, I ordered a large beer in a plastic cup, to drink while watching Blue Oyster Cult at the Space at Westbury.
It's 1:10am and I'm having a Sailor Jerry rum on the rocks.

BTW... BOC was amazing! Buck Dharma is a fucking incredible guitarist.

Had a Groupon for two expiring tonight at a local craft brewery. Finished it by myself. High octane double IPAs, red ales and porters.

Had two, Black Velvets with the best fish and chips I ever had.
Black Velvet = Guinness floating on top of champagne

Normally, I despise champagne but, it's not bad with Guinness. If you mix the two together too fast, it explodes violently!

more flavored vodka...gotta get rid of the stuff, i'd rather drink it than dump it down drain. Finished the doughnut flavor, no on to the vanilla flavor.

Later I might bust out the glencairn and drink some yellow spot. Side Note, last trip to NM I drank some Milton's Brewery stuff, totally worth it if you can find it.

Also, might drink some Ardbeg Uegedail later, need to finish that stuff off.

Last night, I went to a hipster bar to see a Japanese band called, The Seppuku Pistols (they were FUCKING AWESOME!!!).
My buddy and I knocked off a flask of Sailor Jerry Rum on the way.
The bar served a variety of specialty cocktails so, I had to sample as many as it could afford... Singapore Sling, El Corez, Flor de Muertos and a Hurricane.
Totally hung over today... wish I had a xanax for the other hang over!

the standard 1792 is my favorite bourbon (for the $30 price range)
had a bottle of the barrel proof for our bluegrass trip to IN this year.
Just ran across this version for the first time - it may be the best of them all!

Made sangria for a family get together this evening.
This is the best recipe I've come across, from an old bartender's guide....

6 Parts Red Wine (Malbec works best)
1 Part Triple Sec
1 Part Brandy
1.5 Parts Orange Juice
1 Part Cranberry Juice Coctail
Add diced apples and orange wedges to pretty it up.
Pour into a glass with 3 or 4 ice cubes.

Shit is awesome.

Let's say I stop by my local budget sushi restaurant tomorrow. What should I order?

I'd seriously suggest getting beef teriyaki or, beef negimaki or, salmon teriyaki before you try sushi.
A lot of people who order sushi, for the first time at a Japanese restaurant, never want to go back... which is a shame.
Most people like teriyaki and negimaki. Bento Boxes (Dinner Boxes) are also popular.
Dinner Boxes can be ordered with either chicken, beef or salmon teriyaki and they usually come with tempura (lightly fried shrimp, sweet potato and squash), a California Roll (crab, cucumber, rice roll) and Gyoza (dumplings). The Dinner Box will also come with a small bowl of Tempura Sauce for dipping your tempura into.
If you try some of the popular stuff first, you won't be put off to the whole idea of Japanese food.

When you order sushi, it comes with pickled ginger slices and a teaspoon of wasabi (green horseradish paste).
You're supposed to eat a small piece of ginger, between different pieces of sushi, to cleanse your pallet and get you ready for the next piece. I like to put a piece of ginger on top of the sushi and eat them together.
You will be given a small dish to put soy sauce in. You fill the dish about 1/4 of the way and, using a fork or chop sticks, you mix a small amount of wasabi into the soy sauce. The more wasabi, the hotter it gets. You dip a piece of sushi into the dish to pick up a bit of the soy sauce/wasabi mix.

Most Japanese restaurants server Edamame (steamed, salted soybeans in the pod). The first time I ordered Edamame, I popped the whole pod in my mouth and the waitress laughed at me... your supposed to squeeze the beans out of the pod directly into your mouth, not eat the pod - the pod it tough and inedible!

Hope this helps!

WARNING!!!! Do not snort the wasabi!!! :cop:
