Bought a Foxrox Octron3. Super rad. Could pretty much use it as a stand alone fuzz if I want.

Also bought Superior Drummer3 a week later. So far, it's amazifying.

Bought an Eventide Modfactor and I finally got to try it out today.

GOOD POINTS: Exceptional sound quality, tons of setting options and amazingly flexible. The one modulation pedal to rule them all.
Midi's to your DAW's time clock for syncing Tremelo, Vibe, Rotary Speaker oscillations to the drum beat.
The Vibe setting doesn't have that hideous low end bump.
I always hated Chorus but, this one sounds amazing - you can adjust the primary and secondary modulations seperately.
You can dial in a good sound fairly quickly.

BAD POINTS: Can only use one effect at at time.

OVERALL RATING: 9/10 :thu: :thu:

Some of you guys have a lot of disposable income..

Me gots a JCA212. It's light and sounds great. Made out of Ply and not MDF. Good for playing big amps in the house too cuz it's not as loud as 412's. It has the new JCA Eminence speakers with the heavy magnets that sound great out of the box.

Will post clips on the next jam.

Started checking out demo vids of the pedals you guys bought... that Gonkulator looks like fun and the Digitec Luxe is really cool.

The DOD Bifet Boost 410 looks really useful... Just Nick vids are really long but, I'm posting at the spot where he explains the function of the On/Off Buffer/True Bipass Switch.
Reverb is selling them for $39 plus $7 shipping... may have to get one.

I had them all sent to my dad’s place since he’s home and retired. I’ll pick them up this weekend and hopefully post some thoughts and review.

What didn’t you like about the eclipse? I have the super moon chrome and love it. I was thinking about the eclipse but maybe it good I didn’t pick one up

I didn't really get any BF deals but I talked the SW rep into giving me regular discounts.

Got the LTD MH-1000 Evertune and Case
Dingbat Medium Board with case

Both should arrive today as long as I am home to sign.

The one deal I wanted but forced myself not to was the VFE Standout. Like $50 off. I should have and am kicking myself BUT with the holidays coming and all of that I did not want to spend $$ on myself. With SW I can finance so it is easier.

I will also be getting a set of Fishman soon, once I decide on which model to get and I might get a pair of K100 or H75's to try.

I've had every single super moon.

The eclipse has to be using a completely different engine or algorithm. It sounds nothing like the chrome/black/blood/MS/etc.

I love all of the single ones in their own ways. Sold the black and blood though. I actually like the eterna blue with no shimmer for anything less spacey than the chrome.

The MS is a weird beast. The modulation is hard to tame, but the trick is to turn it all the way up. I feel like it slows the lfo down.

gonks were reissued and Sweetwater blew them out for like $40.

I'm really liking these aluminum Chinese DOD pedals. They are designed and built really well, plus they are damn cheap when they're on sale:
Gunslinger = $34
BiFet = $49
250 OD = $44
Comp = $43
201 Phasor = $39
Gonkulator = $40
Boneshaker = $40
etc. They fuckin' rule, overall.

Damn, that's a great price for a pro40. I have one and it's a great bit of gear for sure. I bought it for peanuts from a guy who got it to write/record hip hop but he had no idea what to do with it so he sold it.

WOW!

Nothing nearly as exciting here.

I've had these 10" CTS anlico's kicking around for several months with nothing to put them in.

Image

I spotted a cheap pair of 10" cabs on CL to try them in........'80s Marshall Lead 12 cabs, perfect!

Image

Out with the old shite....has what looks like a '85 date code on the cone. Did they make these back then?

Image

In with the older.....'75 CTS alnicos.

Image

They were pulls from a Traynor 8 x 10 cab. My son said he liked them in a 4x10 test cab he threw together out of scrap plywood and said he is planning to build a real cab for them at some point. He gave me this pair. The cones each had a small puncture which I patched using the Elmers and coffee filter method this morning. I'll let them sit until tomorrow morning before I start shaking the shit out of those patches. :lol:

That's all I got other than I bought a powered recliner couch today. :nerd:

I'm not sure if there is much of a difference with these speakers outside of the extra doping. Some of the U.S. speaker manufacturers sold the same speaker for bass and guitar use back then. I asked my son if they were dark when he tried them and her said they weren't. I'll know tomorrow morning. Alnico speakers typically have a pronounced midrange.

I did some digging and discovered Ampeg used 32 ohm CTS alnico speakers in their SVT810 cabs. He told me they were 16 ohm.......shit. They aren't marked so I have to dig out my meter and check. Traynor used Marsland speakers in their YC810 Big B cabs but that's not what was in this one.

Image

Could someone have changed the speakers in that thing at some point? That seems crazy. When I checked the web for info on the CTS 10's Ampeg used I found some pics and they don't look like mine at all.

These are the CTS speakers from a SVT810.

Image

They look like bass speakers....huge magnet, smooth cone, mine look like guitar speakers.
The mystery continues...

I would venture to say those are guitar speakers.
I can't see your pic of the ampeg bass speakers - but I do know they used a few different styles.
One with a large square magnet and one with a magnet similar to yours - but the 'frame' of the magnet was a thicker material.

The Ampeg bass cabs did use 32 ohm speakers - all wired in parallel for a 4 ohm total load.
They were only 30 watts apiece on the originals too (they use 100 watt speakers now) - so one was underpowered for the 300 watt SVT
But two of those cabs off a single SVT ran at 2 ohms - which was fine for the SVT - and how they were really intended to be used.

I believe they used eminence speakers for a while too.

All in all - in those cabs - I would think these would be better suited for guitar - both the speakers and the cabs.

Image fixed. You're right. There is a huge difference between the two types. Mine are 8 ohm guitar speakers which is awesome.

I had a bunch of those “90’s DOD pedals” in the actual 90’s...

I went way overboard with the BF sales... got two Wampler pedals, the ego compressor and the paisley deluxe overdrive; got a couple mics- an md421 and a shure sm7b; got komplete 11; a UA mic pre; a Gretsch 12 string (RIP Tom Petty); two Superior Drummer SDXs - progressive foundry and rock foundry; a new reflection filter and some other odds and ends.

I didn't find any great BF sales, but the wife talked her Sweetwater rep into 20% off an EVH 2x12. I was debating buying used, but for ~$50 more I got it new.

Broke it in last night. It was a quiet gig, but it sounds great so far. I'm excited for a chance to open it up and compare it to my Mesa 2x12.
